If he has 400k in a thai bank account he can probably get the one year extension in Thailand. If he has the equivalent of 400k but in a foreign bank he can probably get a one year multi entry at savannakhet. If he doesn’t have 400k he can probably get a single entry 90day non O from savannakhet

they do keep all the paperwork you submit but it appears they make their decision right there when they check the paperwork. It wasnt like for example when I tried to use the embassy in vietnam and they kept threatening they are going to verify everything and deny the visa and keep the fee if anything was wrong (they told me that about hotel bookings, flight confirmation). But I seriously doubt they have any ability to check your bank accounts abroad.

also something new if you are going for the spouse visa they started asking that your wife be present with you or take a letter from her, if not they will only offer single entry and not multiple entry

I don’t know he only said “you need proof of 400k baht in the bank” i felt like he didn’t really want to give instructions or explanations. It was kind of like if you are prepared you get it. If you are not prepared then you get a single entry or bye. The other couples in front of me only got offered single entry.

i got a multiple entry non-o (thai wife) 90 day entries 1 year. Apparently like a week or less they started asking for proof of funds, and not long ago they also started asking for the thai spouse to be present or bring a letter from them and an explanation why they didn’t come with you. I saw someone else post the day before I went that they got asked for proof of funds, if not I wouldn’t have thought to prepare bank statements. Everyone is still in disbelief about this change😂

savannakhet has an airport but from the info I could find you would have to fly to vientane then fly to savannakhet which would have a long wait before the connection and also expensive. Or fly to some city and still take a 5-6 hour bus to get to savannakhet. In the end the best for me was just take the bus from bangkok.

mine was in English and they accepted, no idea if they will accept it in dutch, but always better to be over prepared if you can also have it made in English then bring it too

the guy just kept saying “2000 baht single entry” and i kept asking what about multiple entry and after a few times he said “you need proof of 400,000 baht in the bank”. I just handed three months of statements from my US bank in dollars and he accepted that but he never really said clearly thats what they want i just volunteered that information and he accepted it then told me “ok 5000 baht” to pay for a multiple entry
