I've cycled much of thailand over the years , the far north on the Burmese border, along the Mekong south from Nong Khai and far south are the best

No letters issued

just got a new US passport 2 weeks ago ( took 6 weeks here in Thailand)

you can travel with both and when ur ready ( there is NO time limit) transfer the initial entry stamp an some stuff at the immigration where you extension was issued>

Valid visas in cancelled passports are still valid
