Ranong is a 4 hour drive or 6 hours by bus

long tail across to Kwathoung is 50 baht/seat or 500 baht for the boat return

takes about 30 minutes

u can stay in Kwathoung for up to 14 days on the $10 stamp Burma gives you.

MUCH cheaper than the casino trip

Thai immigration at the pier wont let you leave if they wont let you back in.,

Its beautiful area ( around Thalang) an the whole east coast north of the Heroine's monument with nice beaches ( layan beach on the west coast with the Nat park right there) and a many areas with no tourists at all

The phuket haters are ones that visited / lived in Patong and feel that represents Phuket island) :-)

not to argue buy the whole north of the island, center and east coast is full off rubber, pineapple and durian plantations
