thanks. In the meantime, I had a look at the list of options and Penang is (relatively) close to Samui. So I guess Phnom Penh, Ho Chi Minh and Penang would probably be good candidates.

I find that hard to believe when they advertise it as income tax free. Besides, how does that work in practice, finding out you're working? Nomads do stuff on the computer, what are they going to do, go around asking people with laptops in cafes to prove that their internet browsing isn't work?

I guess the most tax friendly option is the Thai Elite visa for 5-20 years, but it’s not cheap.

because there is no Thai embassy in the country I’m in and the e-Visa website directs me to go physically to a consulate.
