DTV and LTR can get 5 year licenses.. Elites shouldnt but sometimes do.

You can skip the medical cover if you have 100k in a bank account for prior 12 months.

if you get a local TM30 you can then get a local residence cert so... Yeah with some effort I guess.

Probably easier to have an agent 'fix' it for you down there tho.. I mean chonburi usually one of the most open to solutions places in Thailand.

Will my DTV still be valid if I move out of Thailand for a couple of years before returning?

Unless something very unusual changes drastically, then yes.. it's a 5 year multi entry visa, you should be able to come and go for the next 5 years.

How can I obtain an International Driving License in Thailand with DTV?

Sefton ********

You CAN get a 5 year license with a DTV (after you have held a 2 year obviously) at least you can in chiang mai, so theres no reason to assume you wont get a Thai IDP also.

But you cant go from no license to a 5 year (and IDP) you always have to go through the provisional 2 year process no matter tha visa class theres no bypassing that.

Noa Cohen Well those are the documents I brought.. have a Google but they are the kind of stuff expats get over time, so they see that. Also obviously they react differently with a few million in cash in your hands. That's just how it is, the rules they say prevent sign ups, are all discretionary.

Noa Cohen credit card very different story. You can get them but need to lock up am amount equal to the credit offered.

I don't bother as I have western credit cards. Debit of course is easy.

Chiang Mai SCB.. No questions asked.

But that said.. Also, Pink ID card, Yellow Book, conservatively dresssed, handled in Thai, and my number was still in thier system from over 15 years ago when I had one with them before. Plus was also depositing real estate land purchase amount of cash.
