yep the maximum you are allowed outside the country is 14 days in a private language school type visa.

Which isn’t going to work with quarantine.

Because you are supposed to be studying, and there normally isn’t any large term breaks like universities.

Best to work with a tourist visa or visa exemption which is allowed in and you can still study on them.

Renewal Should be where you are currently at the time of renewal

Not sure but you do not need a letter these days.

At minimum just a reason why you can’t leave (Koh samui is easiest), and sometimes they might want to see proof of why you can’t (flight restrictions / cancelled flight)

Ask Samui if you need to reregister.

Usually you don’t. Some offices don’t even care if you leave the country and come back (though that’s not happening anytime soon)

Koh Samui Immigration Office is open on Saturday.
