How does the TM30 registration work when changing addresses in Thailand for expats?

Anyone have insight on how the TM30 system works, in term of multiple addresses?

We rent a place in KP and have been registered as living here, but we're taking a quick trip where a new hotel will register us upon checkin. Does that bump our old address off, as far as registration is concerned?

No immediate concerns now, but I want to ensure a smooth renewal at the end of March...

TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 system requires that any change of residence be registered within 24 hours, but practices can vary by immigration office. When traveling within Thailand, if you check into a new place, that address may temporarily register for you. However, whether your previous address remains valid depends on the specific regulations of the immigration office you are registered with. It is advised to confirm with local authorities to ensure proper compliance, especially when it comes time for visa renewal.

I filed my tm.30 in chon buri and asked if i would need to do again after i visit koh pang. Her response was no unless i am changing my address. But as mentioned this was only one immigration office

each immigration office has their own policy, and KP is nowhere close to Chon Buri.

Travel on the tiraks name so the TM30 filing stays the same. It is a pain having to refile after a weekend away.

Officially the came out a while back and said travel inside the country where you returned to your primary residence that you had a TM30 filed on means you do not need to re-file, BUT some immigration offices refused to accept it and require a new TM30 be filed IF you traveled inside the country. It's totally immigration office specific..

To clarify, we live on Phangan long term, we're just taking a vacation to Tao. I'm wondering if the Tao hotel registers us as they should, will that be our new address in the TM30 system? I just want to verify if our Phangan landlord will have to re-register us, so I use the correct address when we renew at the end of March.

, and to clarify the answer, DIFFERENT immigration offices handle travel inside the country differently. SO until you actually get back and check with your office to see if you need to refile a TM30 you won't know.

Post on one of the southern island F/B groups and ask.

Renewal Should be where you are currently at the time of renewal

Depends on the immigration office. IN THEORY, you must be register in the TM30 system NO LATER THEN 24 business hours after you take residence. Some immigration offices accept it once on entry, while others require registration after 24 hours. ASK your local immigration office, or post at a local group
