Elite visa is way better for avoiding immigration.

You can do your 90 days through the official agent and they will take care of any tm30 updates for an extra fee if you need.

And you get a 1 year stamp which is good enough for most people

Can be in any currency or even a non bank (such as a brokerage) in case of some consulates requiring that amount available for a few months

Destination Thailand visa might be also another option too. 180 days per entry. No need to visit the immigration office or do a border hop ever.
