What should I do if my visa application was canceled due to a mistake in my name?

Just got my visa application canceled because I missed my middle name in application process.

Indeed that's totally my fault but do we have to pay 340$ each time a mistake is made ?

I felt more secure to apply online when I heard that if you don't have all the documents the will ask you for more documents instead of immediately canceling the application.

This is some of the things that would never happen when applying physicall. I'm very disgusted about that behavior to be honest.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The cancellation of a visa application due to missing a middle name has led to frustrations regarding the application process and associated fees. The user questions whether they have to pay the $340 application fee again for a mistake like this. Comments highlight that mistakes in personal information, especially in passports, can lead to immediate rejection with no opportunity to correct it without reapplying and paying again. Some suggest contacting the embassy for clarity, while others express that such mistakes are unforgiving in immigration processes. Users share their own experiences, emphasizing the importance of accuracy in applications and the potential for frustration in dealing with these processes.

So when I read posts like this, I have to run down to my pending application and check and oh yeah, I put in my middle name probably because there was a field for it.

So a couple things the website likes to change your information when it scans your passport and they know about this and I think they should fix it and not grab people’s money for it, because it was constantly changing my birthday to the 13th and the 14th, so I screenshot of that and I included that in the application. However, the application reads is having the correct date as of on my end at least.

I think that $300 is kind of a lot of money to lose for a petty mistake and I think that a lot of the comments in the comment here are really petty and rude.

But the thing is if you didn’t check it and it was required they have the right to refuse it, so you can contact them about them and see if they will reconsider, I don’t know if you use the credit card, but if I was me, I probably would charge it back, But I think I went over the thing like 20 times and I still am even after reading the comments in this group, which I should probably turn off while my application is pending.

But if this happened to me, I think I would probably reach out to the embassy instead of just giving them more money or I would just go to a different country because it is kind of a small mistake, but I would be asking for my money back actually And I would probably go somewhere else if I were in this position, I wouldn’t just take it as a lesson learned or whatever people say they think that they give such advice, but if it happened to them, they wouldn’t take their own advice. They would be just as angry or upset or letdown.

Anything legal and including your passport needs to match 100%

why can’t he just fill in his middle name. Seems silly. He should definitely contact them.

@Andrew *****
because it takes time and effort for a member of staff to check and recheck.

Ok a simple name mistake might seem trivial, but where do you draw the line?

It's far easier to have black and white policy and let's be honest anyone filling in and applying for a visa should be double checking and triple checking.

Thats what i call tuition fees.

I understand that you may feel disgusted, but as you mentioned, this is your mistake. The system in Thailand is different from others, and this likely won't be the last time you feel this way. What matters most is that you accept it and move forward. Otherwise, Thailand might not be the right place for you.

You forgot you had a middle name and you want to gain unlimited access to a foreign country for upto 5 years? I think you should stay home or made to pay double

You cannot make any mistakes on your passport information. You can fail to or submit improper documents and they will request additional, but passport data mistakes are untouchable, end of story.

I’d advise anyone applying online to read their full submission 5 times before submitting. The website will automatically correct things like date of birth and the name field.

As mentioned many times, even one letter out of place will result in your application being denied with no chance to resubmit (without paying again)

I guess they don’t want people who don’t know their own name

Are you a serious person?

If $300 is too much for you then perhaps the whole DTV may not be for you. I had my first application cancelled in August but I simply reapplied without hesitation to another consulate and was approved.

Sorry to hear that :(

One mistake, NO VISA!!!

Look forward, if they don’t want you and your money, there are around some other beautiful countries.

I’m still waiting, if I get mine approved I’m happy, if not I’ll sell my bike and leave!

I wouldn’t apply again if I were you, except you really want to go there on a DTV

I understand your frustration. This is however typical immigration process.

When I applied for my permanent residency in Canada, I made one tiny mistake in spelling and my entire application got rejected after being in the system for months. It took me another 1.5 years to be successful as the program changed after I got rejected.

And this is just the start of where the games begin. Haven’t even really started to hear what happens when people get to level 2. The re-entry.

@Sam ****
- Every time you re-enter you get a new 6 month stamp. Also, the issue with incorrect data on applications has been discussed many times here and there is even a warning on the application that you have to click, informing that you took the time to double check all cells and once entered, cant be updated.

just joking around guys. Take a chill pill. Wow. Hate to see how serious you are when you are in your home country.

months. Already bounced twice. Breezed through

Anonymous participant 502 I am thinking 6 months is level 2. Not there yet, but fingers crossed for you. I think level 2 will get harder once there are more players.
Anonymous ******************
@Sam ****
what are you talking about? If you are referring to the 6 month extension then expect your documents to be checked again.

The requirements/criterial for your visa is based on a 6 month period stay, extending for a further 6 months only makes sense you have additional funds and meet criterial for that additional period of time.

Immigration are doing their job, and it's also an opportunity for them to make sure no one is gaming the system.

Anonymous participant 592 take it easy. Participant 592. Just joking around. Jeez

I get stamped in for 180 days each time. I'm well past the six months now! I'm stamped in until June 30 👍👍
Catherine ********
Anonymous participant 502 question - if you get stamped for 180 days each time does that get subtracted from your 5 year total?!

Or you have the 5 year deadline and you come an go as you please without effecting the expiry date

I got very lucky. When I called my embassy in Ottawa Canada, that was one thing they warned me about. Sorry it happened to you.
