Could I have clarification on the 500K THB.

My understanding was that you needed to show the amount in an account, but I have seen recently posts saying that they had the equivalent in another currency.

So I ask, do you need 500,00 THB, or will the equivalent in USD suffice?

Thank you in advance to the people that answer my question :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The requirement for showing 500,000 THB for a visa application can indeed be met with equivalent amounts in other currencies. It is important to check the specific embassy or consulate's currency conversions, as they may set different thresholds for what constitutes the equivalent amount. Acceptable forms of funds may include cash, bank statements from any global bank, or even assets like gold, as long as they can be converted to the minimum required baht.

What kind of statements are acceptable?

Definitely not necessary for it to be in baht. Think about it, if someone is applying for a visa to come to Thailand, why would they already have Thai baht in an account? Sure, some might, but many people applying will have never even been to Thailand before.

It can be in USD, but you will need to check the currency conversion used by that embassy/consulate, as it might be very different than what you expect. For example, when I convert on my phone, 500K baht equals 14.5k dollars. However, last I checked the LA consulate equates 500K baht as 17K dollar. Therefore if bank is in dollar, the LA consulate would require a minimum of 17K, not 14.5K

You need an equivalent amount in 'liquid funds'

Can be in any currency or even a non bank (such as a brokerage) in case of some consulates requiring that amount available for a few months
