why would I spend 5000baht on agent knowing I can open a acct for free with the correct documents.....I've open bank acct with just nonO and thai driving licence and noting else.....I'm just sharing my experience and totally understand that who created this group and comments are always swaying on one side......I do agreed with u that some bank staffs are incompetent but u can always jump to the next branch

Most of the time u need a lease agreement (6mths to 1yr) to convince the bank staff to let you open a bank acct....a hotel address is not convincing enough

they created this OR the foriegmers trying to beat the system? I've been there and was happy that I was able to open a acct back in 2018 with a tourist visa(no agent) changed my status immediately after covid and never have any problems all these years and I still think they are one of the best....maybe it's about 1% of foriegmers affected the rest of the 99% couldn't care less

Just close the acct and leave thailand dont bring the farang's system into thailand you are a GUEST in thailand you follow the rules in thailand

it was because it's the only bank that allows foreigners to open acct with tourist visa NOW they are filtering those genuine long term visa holders against those that shouldn't have acct at all .....only those that are affected are making lots of noise

Have you consider the nonO retirement visa? With less requirements....you just need to extent it every year.....I'm married to a thai but I'm still using the nonO retirement route less hassle

You don't have to travel all the way back to USA.....you can apply in any thai embassy in nearby counrties and wait there until its approved

Some ppl have done all that without spending a dime but it's up to individuals.....be very careful when engaging agents.... someone got scammed and luckily got back her money after making police reports
