Since I am tagged, I sincerely hope your business goes well, please kindly reminded those money launderers might use yours to get the visa …aka your risk. IIRC, formally only condo owner, visa which allow to generate income local in Thai and dependent are eligible/safe to open bank account thesedays ( not law but ordinance and guideline that gov gave to banks

@Tony *****
the issues you mentioned about with tourist visa, not sure what is it… perhaps you should not use the auto scanner when you leave Thai, queue for stamping on passport, specially if you are holding 2 passports.
Chris ******
I use normal tourist stamp to Thai in 2025, 13 times, no problem

Only thing you might need is the proof of return ticket (I was asked , didn’t show)

The only things you need is to spend time to queue for stamp passport, when you flying back, because

I used auto scanner to leave in BKK (no departure chop on passport), but the following trip when I arrive chiang mai, the custom said I don’t have departure record from my last trip (no stamp on passport), told me don’t use the auto scanner

Custom in different airport are not synced !

I opened account by purchasing codo there… bank need business , if you give them business , everything become more easy. I think last 2-4 weeks is difficult for account opening because Thai baht was so strong. They hardly get profit in oversea rate spread.

Bank staff told me in dinner - foreigners can’t open because they put little money there

you will need a Thai bank account finally

With the stamp of your passport, go to AIS shop buy a prepay 90 days sim

Buy an 1 yr accident insurance in K or Bangkok bank (~3000 bath) and said you need to open an account, or else. with your hotel address and phone number for mobile banking

I have done many research. TLTR

Regulation - if you buy a condo, money need to transfer from overseas in foreign currency and exchange in Thai by bank, not wise and not Western union

(Not sure if this need for applying any visa )

Bring foreign currency by hand and exchange in Super Rich = best shop* exchange rate

Other way- use credit card

The ultimate best way- find an Thai gov accredited stock broker who accept your hometown currency , move the money there , then you get no spread of exchange rate ..(spread = same as the rate you check on internet) , before IB can do , now Thai bath is out
