Hello dear members.

Something related again to Bangkok bank, but maybe not what you expected, and a very important message for those living here on retirement, monthly method.

Not all embassy give you a certificate, concerning the transfer, of funds needed. In that case, you have to take your bank book, and get bank letter, that the funds have been transferred on your account every month.

Now first this. If you use Wise, that always went well, if you gave as reason, the transfer, was for you needs to live in Thailand. From THIS MONTH on it appears as internet banking. So not good for immigration.

Second, my extension went smooth, end of June. Although Bangkok bank made some difficulty to make the bank-letter (too busy), got all in order.

A trusted person, went this month to Bangkok bank for that same letter, and it was denied, by the bank. Only reason was that they not issue these any more.......

So the person, called to see the manager, and asked for some goodwill, as the document is really necessary in this case for immigration. Finally she felt sorry for him, and as he stayed calm and polite, she agreed to make it anyway, although it was now against Bangkok bank regulations.

She came back a little later, feeling sorry, as she was in the incapacity, to proceed, because the letter was taken out of the system. He then went to Jomtien immigration, asked what to do, as this was no wrong doing on his side. The only reply was, that then they cannot agree with the extension.

He finally had no choice to go to one of these Visa offices, that asked him at first, although they admit, he qualified, 13.000 baht. He cut it down to 10.000, so they went, and then extension, was possible.

Now, I have time till my next visit, although I have to go, as I get soon a new passport, but I am trying to find a solution. If everything is in order from my side, I really not want, out of principe, to use an agent. Nothing to do with money.

So do have people encountered, this month, same with Bangkok bank? The location is the one, one second road, near Walking street Pattaya (where I got mine though in June). Is there another solution, other then to pay an agent?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
This post discusses the difficulties faced by expats in Thailand, particularly regarding obtaining necessary bank letters from Bangkok Bank for visa extensions. The author shares their experience and raises concerns about recent changes in the bank's policies, particularly with international transfers being labeled as internet banking, which may not meet immigration requirements. The conversation highlights reports from other users about similar issues at various branches and suggests considering switching banks or consulting different bank branches for assistance.

wow if 3000 thb is the trophee your friend has won .......remember that is 3000thb that can not be used for the tea of immi. i tell you now , his next encounter with immi , as next time he will have a little problem and he will pay it more than double back. for 75 euro need to go discount ? seems you will need to learn the first lesson, you not go hassle with immigration related tea size.

you should buy a pair of new optical glasses - it was 13,000 THB, not 3000 THB

Oh thank you for the total proof of your non existence level of reading and calculating. As me and i think any other can do read that he needed to pay 13.000 thb , but he got it discounted to 10.000thb. Meaning he saved 3.000thb. Maybe where you come from they not learn to calculate anything , but when i was around 8 years old it was common in our educating system that the children need to learn how to count and read........ But if the pain gets to hard you can always give me a shout as i not leave some one confused and in pain alone........ Now you can go back searching for some other post to go spread your nonsense or back to the barbie dolls fight with ken.....

His business is not mine. And Bangkok bank should have issued, the letter, that is what it is about.

than why the whole discount story ? this is thailand, we are mostly unwanted guests, for sure expats. go try the other banks and find out that they are all the same. or do we really think that we are the ones in control here ?

That we are not in control is old news. Not that BKK bank does not want to give bank statements.

Hi. When was this and which office. You have opened another account elsewhere, fine. But first, is this another bank, like Kasikorn? If yes, the transfer you made last year, was not done on their account, how can they issue a bank letter?

At BB Two weeks ago on Pattaya Central Rd. We have had accounts for three years We only asked BB. We opened another account to put out money in and was assured next year we will get a statement

It’s why I opened my account at head office in silom of Bangkok bank. Even though I live in phang Nga. It’s also useful to take a Thai friend with you , preferably mature female.

Yet another case of Bangkok Bank causing unnecessary hardship. In this case again hindering people getting a required visa? I actually can't see that they have stopped giving letters out? Surely! They have to give notice for people to move the required funds to another bank for the proper duration? But the way they've acted so far has been scandalous to say the least, so it doesn't surprise me..

As some members stated here, they got this, this week, it is the office, who just not want to waste time on it. They had no time in June, and now they probably not want to give it any time any more.

@Martin *********
doesn't matter what they want.. They can't decide who gets a visa and who doesn't??!

I do hope this doesn’t apply to all BB branches as I will be be needing a letter soon. I did visit my branch last week to show some paperwork they requested. The manager assured me my account is in order and the 12 months statement and bank letter will be issued. Fingers crossed.

@Frederick ********

im not surprised its the pattaya brach that get caught with opening accts for money launderers and came into spotlight...even the jomtien immigration is giving a hard time

Regarding how the transfer shows, you need to see what bank it came from, and then go to that bank and ask them for a credit advice showing the transfer was international. Bring that along with your own bank account information for confirmation to immigration.

As far as the bank letter goes, this is far from the first report that they are refusing to issue the letter for monthly transfers. Most reports I've seen about this indicated the person went to a different branch and got the letter there without issue.

My advice is to switch to Kasikorn or another bank as soon as possible. Drop the garbage Bangkok Bank.

@Brandon ***********
Is it ok whenni print the 12 statements and let bkk bank stamp it? And for the transfers who are not marked as international i print the Wise transfer?
Peter *******
@Pat ****
only your Immigration Office can say what is ok. Go and ask them.

As I said, I had no problem myself in June, same office. Yes, I took another account at Kasikorn, but can use this for monthly method, only starting next year. What worries me, is that the manager tried to help, but that the letter, was not in the system any more. If she told him the truth, of course. By the way, I did a straight transfer to Kasikorn, for a smaller amount, showed also internet banking.

You can ignore anything these bank managers say. They will say whatever they can to get you out of their business. I literally just read a report that someone got their bank letter from Bangkok Bank for monthly transfers YESTERDAY. As I said, if your bank branch will not help, go to a different one. They're a bunch of liars. The sooner you can be done with them, the better.
