Extending visa.

I have 30 days left on my 60 day visa.

I will want to extend for another 30 days.

I am now in Koh Tao, will probably go to Chiang Mai, and maybe Koh lanta.

What are my best options for either a visa run, or extension?

Good places to meet the best of both worlds in thailand? beach and shopping(wifey wants)

I want to avoid the most popular ones such as Phuket as they are more like tourist trap as I’ve heard.

Looking for clarification for 90 day reporting please. I got my extension for retirement on 13 Jan 24. At the same time I seem to have also done the first 90 day reporting. I was helped at Chiang Mai Immigration by a volunteer and didnt fully understand all the forms. I have a docket stapled into my passport saying I have to Notify again on 6 April 24. I take it that I am ok until that date?

Normally I live in Chiang Mai and I have a one year lease on a hotel room commenced Oct 23.

But I will be in Koh Lanta from 19 March to late April.

My question is can I do an online report and if so can I use my CM address or do I have to use hotel address in koh Lanta? What supporting documents do I need to submit?

Right now I cannot access the TM47 online on my phone. If that were to be a problem when I go to submit from Koh Lanta, what would I do?

Sorry it is so wordy - I just want to give all the backgtound in order to get full clarification.

Grateful for all advice offered

We are rethinking our itinerary and any advice would be appreciated 🙏 We (2 couples almost 50s) land in Krabi after exploring Cambodia and Northern Thailand and really want to relax for a couple days and not be bothered by large crowds. We have booked Railay for 3nts and Ao Nang for 3nts then off to Koh Samui by ferry. Koh Lanta looks less busy and easy to get to from Krabi airport. would Koh Lanta be a good relaxing place or more of the same high season crowds?

Hi all,

How painful/not painful is doing a border bounce to Satun from Lanta? I was thinking of hiring a private driver and just going in and out on the same day and coming straight back to Lanta. Is that possible? I'm traveling on a Canadian passport. I entered Thailand for the first time two months ago by air to Bangkok, then extended at Lanta immigration after 30 days. Haven't been in the region in over 5 years because of Covid years. My plan would be to leave Lanta by 8am, get there around early afternoon, enter Malayisa, come back to Thailand and straight back to Lanta. Is that doable not too painfully? How busy does Satun get?

Thank you for any info!

Hi there,

I have a question regarding visa exemption extension and, possibly, boarder runs please. I’d be grateful for any help anyone can give. We’re UK citizens.

We’ve been in Thailand for about 45 days having arrived on a 30 exemption and renewed at the Blue Tree immigration office in Phuket once already. Our stamp says we can only be here until 3rd June but we’d like to stay until early July. From what we’ve been told, it’s not possible to get our exemption renewed again so instead we have to leave the country and re-enter, in which case we’ll get another 30 day exemption which can then be renewed again (once) at an immigration office.

Firstly, Is that all correct as I’ve set out above please or have we misunderstood anything?

Secondly, we’re in Koh Lanta at the moment but thinking over moving to Ko Samui shortly. What would be the most hassle free way to do a boarder run from either of those places please, and what does in entail?

We’re thinking of going to Kuala Lumpa by plane potentially.

Is it a boarder ‘run’ or a boarder ‘bounce’ that we’re doing?

How long do we need to be out of the country for? Are there any risks of us not being let back into the country?

Any other hints and tips hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance 🙏😊

Hey guys!!

I’m currently in Koh Lanta and will be staying south..

My current Tourist Thai Visa, runs out on the 28th of this month January, and I need to be in Bangkok on the 3rd of March as I fly from there back home.

So that would leave me with an overstayed visa by 3/4 days..

Becuase if I was to renew my Visa for another 30days it only works out until the 28th of February.. and I’d need another 3 days of visa..

Just wanted to see if you guys would recommend me paying the 1900thb then pay 2/3 days overstay fee (which all seems crazy prices) or would you recommend to do a Malaysia border run? Something that I can’t find much information about..

Appreciate any help and recommendations

Thanks in advance!
