What should I enter for the intended date of departure when applying for a METV from the USA to avoid issues with onward travel?

Applying for METV via USA/L.A. ￼

Here’s my specific question: 

in the box “intended date of departure”, I entered a date less than 60 days, also tried entering a date less than six months. Either way I’m not getting asked for onward travel and I don’t want to get stuck with a single entry. 

Like many I’m entering on tourism will fly in and out under the 60 and/or extend. In other words using the visa properly. ￼ I hope this question makes sense, thanks for your kind input. ￼

Jared Jernegan thank you, I must be confusing this with something else. As others said, they failed to prove the need to come back in again, so we’re only granted a single entry. Also, I get to the end of the application and it still never asks for an outward ticket. I feel like the information of supplied won’t justify six months. I’m wondering still what date to put in the box mentioned

Terita Quaintrelle i have seen a couple other people mention that happening, but i got an METV last year from NY and i just make a jpg for the proof of travel that’s my flight in + out together

The NY embassy is usually fairly responsive to messages through fb, i would reach out and ask the LA one if that’s enough to satisfy

Otherwise there’s no real boxes or directions to show an itinerary or multiple trips
