I submitted the application through the Los Angeles Consulate on November 13th & the next day I was asked to submit my flight itinerary & a better photo of myself. I received my approval email around 1 hour ago.
I will be attending Arun Thai Cooking School!
I found so much helpful information on this page. Thank you to everyone.
Hello, we are a family of 4 preparing to apply for a workation DTV through the Los Angeles consulate.
My husband and I jointly own our companies together as 50/50 partners. We are both employees of the companies. It seems like when submitting the application, it needs to be from one applicant and couples are not applying jointly together.
I'm wondering how to navigate this application process.
1. I could apply first, then the rest of the family can apply and I'll sponsor them.
2. My husband and I could both send in our applications at a similar time.
What would be the pros and cons to each?
Los Angeles consulate seems to have a high rate of rejections, which is why I thought perhaps we could send in 1 application first, then the rest of the family can become dependents.
Another question is: How should we navigate the fact that the business and all of our accounts have both our names listed on them, as opposed to just my own? Will he need to write a letter or something? What should that letter say?
Just got approved for my DTV visa for soft power (cooking school) through the Los Angeles consulate in UNDER AN HOUR (~45 minutes)!!!!
I was so stressed while doing the application because I was worried about making a stupid mistake that would get my application rejected instantly. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw the first and only status update was to approved.
If you are trying to get a DTV through the LA embassy now seems to be a good time because they seem to be moving fast!
I'm planning on applying for a DTV Soft Power visa through the Los Angeles consulate and had a question about proof of funds. The account I keep $17k+ in that I would provide statements for proof is a high yield online savings account administered by Goldman Sachs. Its not an investment account, its just a savings account and any transfer requests to my checking are done within 24 hours. Has anyone had any issues with that type of account being used as proof of funds.
My checking account statements show ending monthly balances of about $8k-$9k. Would including statements from that and explaining that I keep most cash in the savings and can have access within 24 hours to the savings if the need should arise?
Does anybody know usually how long does it take after your status changes from “pending document check” to “pending approval” that you receive your actual approved visa?
Los Angeles Consulate website says it takes 5 business days to process additional documents. Today is the end of the 5th business day and I haven't heard anything. I sent an email yesterday but no response. Any advice on what to do? My departure date is June 9
Hi Everyone. I'm applying for the DTV visa through Los Angeles and I just received the 'Request for Further Document' email for supplemental documents. I work for a university currently and was hired as a full time employee 2 years ago. The offer letter itself was insufficient, so I'm now putting together more documents (Employment Verification generated electronically from our portal, and a payslip that shows I'm a remote FTE) to submit. They asked for a 'Guarantee letter from the company implies that you work remotely' so I'm putting those 3 together.
I've read that LA wants a statement clearly saying that we 'do not intend to conduct any business in Thailand or engage in business activities with Thai nationals or entities, and also that we do not seek local employment'. How can I show this? I've drafted a cover letter to state this information since the above documents mentioned does not state this piece of information anywhere. I will not go to HR to have them sign off this letter and I also don't really want to go to my director for it. Is there any other way? Does it have to include a wet signature? Can I be the one to draft it on my university letterhead? Can I sign off the letter myself?
🚨UPDATE: APPROVED MAY 2nd 2025 - Thai Cooking Soft Power - Los Angeles Thai Consulate
Original Post:
LOS ANGELES THAI CONSULATE:
Applied March 6th. Submitted further documents March 25th. Have not heard back since. It is now April 14th 2025
I applied for the DTV Soft Power on May 6th with all required documents and triple checked all information was submitted correctly word for word.
13 days later (March 25th) I get an email asking to submit a bank statement requiring a MINIMUM of $17,000 USD, with my name clearly printed and it cannot be an investent profile. My name was CLEARLY PRINTED on my bank statement, it is a statement from a SAVINGS/ CHECKING ACCOUNT with my BANK which also has the banks name and address cleary printed on it. I submitted the statement with $15,300 USD AS THE E-VISA WEBSITE and every other resource available online stated the requirement was a minimim of $15,000. I could have submitted the statement with $17,000+ the first time if thats what made clear anywhere but it wasnt.
I resubmitted a new bank statement with $17,500 1 day of recieving that further documents requested email (March 27) and ever since status has been in "Processing Document Check (1) ". I underatand as of now it Songkran in Thailand, but that document was sumbitted way prior to the holiday.
I also submitted the documents for my finacé's DTV SoftPower on April 4th 2025 with all the same required documents except I made sure her bank statement has well over $17,000 USD. We applidd to the same consulate as me. Her status has been "Pending Payment" ever since. Its been 6 business days and no status change.
I'll continue my patience but wrote this out slight confusion & frustration.
