If you got 2 metv per year costing £300,wouldn’t it be better than jumping thru hoops trying to get a retirement visa probably work out cheaper & you wouldn’t have to leave 800,000 baht in your account
You may have read my previous post about entry into Thailand. So now had time to process and visit immigration.
Next move.
The IO at the airport said get a wife visa which I believe is an O visa. This is problematic as I will not have 800,000 in for two months, more like two weeks.
The IO at my local office confirmed this but mentioned 400,000 but think this is an O-A visa which I do not want.
Now the METV. This would be perfect and I can meet all the requirements. I guess I would need to leave Thailand to apply. But would having a Thai wife prevent this.?
Basically an METV would allow me to leave and renter Thailand to give me 150 days I need
To apply for an METV, if required to leave Thailand, would Vietnam be OK.

I hold a METV and i Applied for DTV in Jakarta and the embassy asked me to contact the issuing embassy to cancel the METV. I already contacted the issuing embassy and they say they can’t cancel the visa. I’ve seen some people managed to cancel their METV. Could you please share how you managed that? Could you please share what proof of voided visa looks like so i can share with the issuing embassy?
Don’t know if anyone can help but if you can thank you. Is there a way you can come to Thailand for 6 months a year. My wife and I would like to do this from the UK.
In a previous post of mine it was mentioned that getting a METV raises suspicions to the immigration officer if arriving before on visa exempt. Is that correct? Am I actually better coming again on a visa exemption? I thought with an METV it would be a breeze. Will be visiting from the UK , January -March (60 days) and May-July(60 days).
