Hi, the document states that I need to show my financial statements of 3 months or sponsorship letters. What does it mean? Who needs to sponsor? I have a job in the UK. I visit Thai companies frequently to provide consultancy services. Does the sponsorship need to be from the Thai companies? Or the UK company? I have a work contract with the UK company.
Answer summary
To apply for a Thai visa, you need to show your financial statements for the last three months or provide a sponsorship letter. A sponsorship letter typically comes from a personal sponsor, not a business. Since you are employed in the UK and providing consultancy to Thai companies, you may not qualify for the DTV visa, which is intended for remote work only for overseas companies. Instead, you might require a Non-B visa and work permit if your services are directly engaged with Thai firms. To avoid complications, if you have at least 500,000 THB in your bank account for three months, this can suffice, eliminating the need for a sponsor.

Most likely you'll be rejected as you stated you're working with a UK company but dealing with Thai companies in your line of work.

The sponsorship letter is a letter from your employer stating that you can work remotely in Thailand. If you show the income and assets, that’s what it appears that they are asking for. If you represent your company in doing business with any company in Thailand, they should get you a work visa on their dime.

Read the request. You don’t need a sponsor if you have the 3 months of bank statements. The sponsor is if you don’t have the bank statements. You need to show you have at least 500k for 3 months in your bank account. If you don’t have 3 months of 500k then you will need a to find a sponsor. It’s one or the other not both.

If you don't have the 500k only in some cases you can replace that by a sponsor.

Normally this will only be accepted as an alternative for dependants sponsored by DTV holder.

Wrong visa. Your income can only come from your country of residence on the DTV.

What you say is partly true, DTV is a no go when your work is connected with Thailand in any way, but there is no need the income has to come from your country of residence.

A third country is no problem, as long as it does not involve Thailand.

correct, outside of Thailand was what I should have said.

If you are interacting with Thai companies, this is not the visa for you

Sponsorship’s have less chance of getting approved than 500.000 in a personal account.

You will need a different visa to work directly with Thai firms. DTV is for remote work with non Thai businesses/clients

"I visit Thai companies frequently to provide consultancy services. Does the sponsorship need to be from the Thai companies?"

You won't be doing any business with any Thai entities on a DTV you will need a Non-B visa and work permit to do that from inside Thailand.

A sponsorship letter is a document from someone who is financially supporting your visa application, for example, a spouse. It is not a letter from your employer.

If you have at least 500,000 THB in your own bank account, you can use your personal bank statements instead.

For the DTV Workcation category, your UK employment contract serves as proof of employment. However, the DTV is intended for remote work for overseas companies. If you are providing consultancy services directly to Thai companies while in Thailand, you may need a different visa and work permit.
