Just cleared immigration at Nong Khai. The female IO busted my balls. Everything she told me right up to the second she went silent and stamped my passport said I wasn’t going to Thailand tonight.
She scans my passport and I guess she doesn’t see my DTV upon first glance and she gasped “mister you’ve been in Thailand a very long time!”
To which I responded, “I have a DTV.”
“Oh? What you do in Thailand?”
I told her, “Holiday”
She just laughed at me in what must’ve been disdain.
The. She proceeds to tell me that the policy says I cannot cross land border. Idk man. I’d advise everyone to fly or go through during the day.
Not here to fear monger, but she was honestly telling me I wasn’t going to be admitted right up until she stamped me in.
Interesting experience thus far, but I won’t be taking an international train again
Any visa agents that can help to cross from Vientiane back into Nong Khai? First time crossing the border by land back into Thailand without flying, no major passport history/abuse, however I would be keen to make the entry back into Thai as easy as possible hence looking for an agent. Been in Laos for 4 days sightseeing and now looking to continue my holiday in Thailand for another 1-2 months.
So soon we need to go for Visa O-A Multiple Entry for extension to Laos, Nong Khai.
How im thankful got informed here I need to go for at least 24 hours to Laos and when I get back to Thailand Border Immigration I get one Year single Entry extension.
Sadly because Family circumstances we need to go over the Weekend. Is the Immigration open over the Weekend 30.8 to 31.8 there?
I have another question American passport, I have you go to Laos to apply for my Non O due to bad advice, what i would like to know is we are driving up to nong khai then leaving the car at immigration, take a bus or train over apply, pay wait. My question is will my Thai girlfriend be ok going into Laos or will they try and prevent her from going? What will we need to have to make sure she can cross? I would appreciate any directions that will help
Another shocker! At Nong Khai on the Laos side they asked me to pay in USD for my VOA just now. $40 USD for Canadian. Ofc, I didn't have it because they always ask for THB and complain that USD is not in pristine condition when you mention USD.
So ofc I overpayed 1.7k baht because its their usual scammy rate. I could have saved 350THB. Well, now they don't care about THB, they ask for USD first.
I've been crossing that border for 12 years, and it's the first time they speficially ask for USD. They even have a new pink exchanger booth on the Thai side by the photocopy booth, which I should have deduced is there for a reason.
So if you need to bounce, come here with THB and exchange on Thai side and they will take your USD and I'll save 300-400THB in bogus conversion.
Hello, I arrived here with a single-entry tourist visa that I extended by one month, the exemption ending next week. I plan to go to Nong Khai and make a round trip from Thailand to Laos and Thailand during the day. What is the risk with immigration on returning to the Thai border? Thank you.
UPDATE 3/15: I wasn't asked for any of the "3 proofs"
when doing a border run nong-khai to laoswith an immediate return, do you need 3 proofs (20K thb, outbound flight, hotel reservation) or is this not asked for re-entering thailand? thank you.
I'm in Vientine after 60 days stay in Thailand (1 extension in chiangmai).
Planned on going back for another month in Thailand via Udon thank but on the way out the border control officer told me it's "better" that I fly back and not take the land route.
Any particular reason for that? They were not clear cut over the chance of denied entry, but is that an option? Also if I denied an entry via the land route will it influence future entries?
