Ok. Tomorrow (Wednesday 17th) immigration offices will be open. Many of the major ones like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Jomtien, Phuket, etc will be off the wall charts busy after a 5 day closure. 𝐈𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐬𝐨. They’re open on Thursday and Friday too and will probably be a lot less busy.

If you have had a stamp that has expired since the 12th then definitely go tomorrow (early in the morning). You can get an extension as normal but you will get an overstay stamp but not a fine as the offices were closed. The extension will be dated from the day it was due.

If the wait times are astronomical then please don’t blame the staff. They will be working as best they can but it will certainly be hard to cope with the sheer numbers that turn up.

My visa exempt expires on Sunday, July 2nd. Can I get the extension on Monday, July 3rd?

Hello, we are about to apply for a 30 days visa extension because our 60 days tourist visa is coming to an end. I hear from people that the 30 days extension does not need to be asked for my kids (4 and 1). On the internet, I read that they will get an overstay stamp in their passport. Someone knows what’s true or not? Also we will do a visa run once the extension expires so we do not want to jeopardise our chances to get a new 60 days tourist visa. Thanks

ALL Immigrations offices in the country are closed until Monday the 18th (borders are open like normal).

**Please note;

If you have a stamp that is expiring during this time that the immigration offices are closed and you show up at the immigration office on the 18th you will NOT be fined for overstay and can get your extension like normal (but you will get an overstay stamp in your passport that says; "overstay xxx days, fine waived due to holiday/closure". **

Hi TVF. Firstly have a Good New Years. I am aware the Consulate in Penang will not issue a SETV if you have an overstay stamp! However because of the forever changing policies adopted by neighbouring consulates, I would only like to hear from people that have recently obtained a SETV that had an overstay stamp in their passport. Or genuine guaranteed advice that this would not be an issue in another country. My friend firstly had a WP then 30 Visa Excempt extended by 30 days... Now on overstay!
