Hello all. I made a mistake in dealing with money matter during my 3 months non-immigrant O visa and can’t apply for 1 year extension. I’m planning to leave the country and reapply once more for the 3 month non-immigrant visa.
The first time I applied from Hanoi as I was living over there. What could be the best place to reapply for one ? I’ve been told it’s quite fast from a Thai consulate in Laos, do you have some more information ? Thank you
Filling out eVisa online applications at Thai Consulates for visas
A LOT of people get their application cancelled once they apply due to a data 'mis-match'. ☹️ This happens because they either keyed in the wrong info on one of the fields
OR
what most often happens IS when you scan the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) on the data page of your passport and the system auto fills there's a mistake between what was filled in and what is actually on the passport.
People don't bother checking that all the fields are correct and submit the application.
Sadly for them, as soon as the embassy catches the mis-match in data from the actual passport image and the application they cancel the visa and you lose the application fee. 😲
Some tips:
* Go SLOW <- it's not a race to see who can get it done the fastest
* Recheck the data entry portion of the application for errors before you submit the application..
It should be noted that IF you correct an error on the application in the MRZ auto-fill area and save that application in your profile (to submit when you get to the country you're going to apply thru) many times the information goes back to what was auto-filled and the correction is erased, so check it one last time before you submit the application..
Remember EVERY thai consulate in the world now uses eVisa online application system. There is no "walk up and apply" consulates.
There are "walk up and pay" ones, where you apply online for the visa, get a QR code and show up at the consulate to pay (the two thai consulates in Vientiane and Savannakhet Lao)
and
there is at least one consulate where you need to make an appointment to show up and pay in person after you applied online for the visa (the consulate in Yangon Burma). Most of the other consulates that I am aware of are all pay online ones.
Also you can only upload ONE file per section (where an upload is required) so find a 'file merging' free program on the inter-web and combine the bank statements into one file, marriage documents, etc into one file (watch the file size) so that you can get everything uploaded that is required
Many times if you are sent a request for additional documentation it "resets" the processing time (not always though) so if you can fill out the application without then sending a request for additional documents you're ahead of the curve 👍
The eVisa online application portal is not brain science or rocket surgery. In fact for a website here in thailand it's a pretty user friendly one 🙂 All too often the problems people experience are "self inflicted" (caused by going too fast thru the application process)
Sincerely best of luck with your eVisa application process.
What is the usual ("normal") processing time for DTV? I have been waiting for almost 1 month now. First (almost) 2 weeks the system showed "Pending document check". And now I have seen "Pending approval" for 2 weeks. Is this usual or would it make sense to inquire the consulate about the status?
Guide for Indian Passport Holders Applying for a Thailand DTV
Hey everyone! Sharing my experience applying for a Digital Thailand Visa (DTV) for myself and my dependents (wife and daughter) from India via the Chennai Consulate.
About Me
I run a business in the U.S. and create travel & drone-related YouTube videos (Nomadic Explorista). Since COVID, I’ve been working remotely and have traveled to 30+ countries (including 15+ trips to Thailand) without overstaying any visas.
My DTV Application (Individual)
I submitted my DTV application in February and chose the Chennai Consulate (the only Thai embassy in India is in Delhi, rest are consulates). Here’s what I submitted:
✅ Cover letter (explaining profession, purpose of visit)
✅ 6-month bank statement (maintaining 500,000+ THB/month)
✅ Expected flight details (searched on Skyscanner, not booked)
✅ Hotel address (where I usually stay in Phuket)
💰 Paid ₹25,000 INR via cash deposit at DBS Bank (any branch accepts it—double-check your application number before payment).
📩 Visa approved in 4 business days!
⸻
DTV Dependent Applications (Wife & Daughter)
Once mine was approved, I applied for my wife and daughter as DTV dependents with:
✅ Passport scan copies
✅ Recent photos
✅ Same bank statement & LLC registration document
✅ Cover letter (mentioning my DTV status & purpose of visit)
✅ Same flight details & hotel address
💰 Paid at DBS Bank (different branch this time).
📩 Received an email after 3 days asking for a new photo of my wife → Submitted it → Visa approved in 6 more days (total 9 days).

Final Thoughts
We love Thailand and decided to move as a family in few weeks for long term ❤️.
The process was smooth and much easier compared to the old sticker visa system. If you’re applying for a DTV from India (or as an Indian passport holder), I hope this helps!
Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Happy travels! ✈️
Need help getting facts on CURRENT walk-in locations near Thailand.
I’ll leave Thailand and apply for the DTV within 3 weeks. I prefer to go to a walk-in location.
Currently, I’m considering:
1. Taipei – but read they’re going e-visa ~Nov 19? I haven’t been able to corroborate this. Does anyone know if/when Taipei goes e-visa and the last day for walk-ins?
2. Manila - I read they'll accept walk-ins until Jan 2025 - true?
3. Yangon – I read they still accept walk-ins until ???
4.Any other locations I should consider?
Any confirmation or correction of what I’ve listed would be fantastic, and any other relevant advice/input would be appreciated.
Hi all. Are South Africans applications for ED visas currently being accepted? If so, from which embassies? The reason I ask is that a couple of language schools here in Phuket have told me they can't apply on behalf of South Africans at the moment. Thanks.
