I came into the Kingdom on 6th sept on a 60 day SETV
This morning i went to Udon Thani Immigration to extend my Visa 30 days.
Only when i did my paper work that I realised I had been stamped in for 30 days and now I was 6 days over stayed.
I explained this to the IO, only to be told that I would have to go to Swampy Immigration to get it sorted. My Wife give him verbal abuse then the big boss stepped in and said he could sort it.
Morral of my story is, once you get stamped in Double check the dates are correct as quite hard to do at a later date.
2 1/2 hours later and 2500 bhat lighter, I went for a well deserved beer 555

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience of mistakenly receiving a 30-day stamp upon entering Thailand on a 60-day SETV, resulting in a 6-day overstay. Despite the immigration officer's initial refusal to correct the mistake without additional fees, the situation was ultimately resolved after intervention from a senior officer. This incident highlights the importance of double-checking visa stamps upon entry to avoid complications later.
They can see the stamp in date, they can see that you have a SETV, it seems like it's a clear mistake. Why couldn't they just correct it without charging you? Because officer Somchai was looking to make some extra money. 😊
yes they can see but that is the passport holder that must check if the stamps are correct before they left. most time they do not recognise their mistake (lost face problem in the land of smile). Anyway its not a good idea to use loud voice with them, their are the boss in their country.
he wanted to get the 30 day extension early. He had a 60 day tourist visa in his passport but he was stamped in ONLY for 30 days but mistake and didn't notice it until now
face it you're hardly the first foreigner stamped in wrong to thailand. There are many many people a day out at the bangkok immigration office getting their bad stamps corrected.
why were you 2500 baht lighter, fixing an errant stamp is free and a 30 day extension is 1900baht. You weren't on overstay at all, you were stamped in wrong.
I hear what you are saying Tod, they told me 2500bt so I just smiled and payed up. Less hassle for me and the Mrs was about ready to jump over the counter to sort them out 555
