For those who applied from Vientiane: is the payment made directly at the embassy in THB?! How do you get the money in THB?! Don't tell me you have to withdraw local currency and exchange it...?!
PS: I don't have dollars or euros...
Answer summary
The payment for a visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane is made directly in Thai Baht (THB). If you do not have THB, you can exchange your local currency at a money changer. There are several posts discussing where to exchange currency for THB to facilitate the visa payment.

No just snap your fingers, or change whatever you got for Thai baht at a money changers
Yes, you pay direct to the embassy. Go to a money changer and change what currency you have. There are several posts in the threads about where to get THB to pay for the visa.
