Can I still apply for the 6-month DTV soft power package, and is it okay to travel frequently outside Thailand while holding this visa?

Hey guys can I still pay for the 6 month DTV soft power packages or are they only accepting longer ones now? Please only contribute if you have very recent experience on this and have recently applied with a 6 month not just recently been accepted from a submission ages ago

Also, on the DTV is it permitted or risky or even discouraged among the community to travel a lot and spend much time outside of Thailand ie. A week in Vietnam, PH, couple weeks in Malaysia etc. Will IOs dislike that or not care? I'd imagine it doesn't matter since it's a tourist visa anyway so staying for the entirety of the permitted time per entry is not mandatory and potentially also disliked. So confusing because so much fear mongering and conflicting info here and elsewhere

Summary:

- will I still get accepted with 6 month Muay Thai or is 9 and 12 only acceptable now

- am I free to travel around and re enter multiple times per 6 month stamp

Thanks in advance
Answer summary
The community is currently discussing the acceptability of the 6-month DTV soft power package. Some users suggest that it varies by embassy, with differing experiences reported, particularly with the London embassy being referenced. There is caution around frequent travel with this visa, as while it does allow multiple entries, immigration may scrutinize those who leave and re-enter often. Conflicting opinions exist regarding the implications of traveling outside Thailand while on a DTV, emphasizing the importance of adhering to visa conditions.

Immigration will look favourably on you spending time outside of Thailand as the DTV is not meant to allow you to "live" in Thailand

SteadyFlamingo9569 just be prepared for reentry they are getting stricter slowly but surely. Plan in advance or long courses. If you take a 6 month class then leave and come back they might ask for a new class and if there is none, they can deny. They are working hard to get rid of the DTV which is why they just made it harder to apply for. Lots of people say if you try to extend many places tell you to leave and comeback again and quite a few people have been denied entry back in and not even able to get their stuff. Those people who couldn’t reprove their income, or classes. Make sure to just plan ahead for safety

SteadyFlamingo9569 If you don't see the pattern that is up to you. It has nothing to do with fear mongering.

Everybody can understand that when you not use the visa for the purpose for which it was issued, that is simply called abuse.

Thailand just is enforcing more and more roles, especially for foreigners.

You might be lucky and get away with breaking rules, but you also might be stopped, and that is not only for DTV but a lot of other things.

That completely depends on the embassy. They all have their own policies. I saw a post of someone using a 90 day class a couple weeks ago and it got approved. But you'll see posts of 6 month classes being denied. There's no right or wrong answer as they're all applications from different Thai embassies.

And DTV is multiple entry. You get a brand new 180 day stamp every time you enter.

SteadyFlamingo9569 You can find 2 recent SP reports from London in the main DTV FB group . Both applied with 9mth courses, one given a 6mth METV the other the DTV. The one given 6mth mentioned their plan was to just be in Thailand for 6-9mths. It's important to show your need and use for the 5yr DTV.

SteadyFlamingo9569 You'd probably want to join the DTV Facebook group and do a search for London. You'll probably find a lot more reports, and more up-to-date ones as well. This group is so general, it can be difficult to get specific information things sometimes.
