TLDR : Answer Summary
As of December 3, 2025, applicants for the DTV E-Visa at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles are required to show proof of financial resources amounting to USD $17,000. This is an increase from the previous requirement of USD $16,000, which is still applicable at other Thai embassies and consulates, such as those in Washington DC, Chicago, and New York. The financial requirement in Thai Baht remains at ฿500,000, and adjustments to the dollar amount reflect current exchange rates.

the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles has always stated that the DTV E–Visa Financial Requirement has been ฿500,000.– Thai Baht and continues to do so, but has adjusted their local currency equivalence (U.S. Dollar) to USD $17,000.– Dollar

Just like another one of our Facebook Group Members had done, anyone can directly contact and communicate with the Thai Embassy in Los Angeles

From that correspondence, the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles actually emailed in their reply back to one of our Group Members that in consideration of a DTV E–Visa Application at the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles, they're looking for at least USD $17,000 Dollars among several other factors, requirements, and considerations

Also, on 13 January 2025, the Thai Immigration Bureau (สำนักงานตรวจคนเข้าเมือง), published their Immigration Bureau Order #
******
, restating the ฿500,000.– Thai Baht Financial Requirement for a DTV Extension of Stay Application at any local Thai Immigration Office inside Thailand

the Interior Ministry Notice as published in Thailand's Royal Gazette on 15 July 2024 and signed by both the Thai Prime Minister and Thai Interior Minister (both previous and current Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Thailand)

ANY Embassy/Consulate of ANY country around the world does periodically adjust prices/rates/financial requirements according to current and actual Exchange Rates to reflect actual, current conditions and circumstances

For the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) E–Visa, the financial requirement of the DTV E–Visa is still ฿500,000.– Thai Baht as published in Thailand's Royal Gazette on 15 July 2024, but the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles is adjusting their local currency equivalence (U.S. Dollar) to better reflect actual Exchange Rates of the U.S. Dollar

Over the summer, someone in the group applied with $16k and the LA consulate asked for proof of an additional $1k. Because of that, before I applied in August, I emailed the LA consulate directly and they confirmed the requirement was $17k. That said, people were still being approved with $16k after my application. It looks like the LA consulate is now making the $17k requirement official by posting it on their website.

You're not correct. The Thai Embassy and Consulates in the USA now showing different funds required...

Los Angeles is US $17,000

Others still are showing US $16,000

I expect all will soon be showing $17,000 due to the weakness of the US $.... that also happened a year ago when the amounts required were US $17,000.

Probably a typo. Thai visa requirements aren't individual embassy or consulate specific.

It's not because the amount changed, it's because the US$ exchange rate has changed.....the requirement is and always has been 500,000

no way, MOFA controls all the visa requirements. It is not up to each foreign location. Check the official Thai MOFA web site if you don't believe me.
