Sharing my recent experience entering Thailand with a DTV visa using a newly renewed passport. I know this topic might have been covered before, but I was actively searching for this specific info and found limited answers, so I hope this helps someone in the future.
Here's my timeline:
* I got my DTV in January 2025, so exactly one year ago.
* By late 2025 (around November), I had to renew my passport as the one linked to my DTV was about to expire. So, I got a brand new passport.
Before traveling, I had read in various places that to enter Thailand with a new passport but an old visa, you needed to bring the old passport as well. So, just to be safe, I brought both my new (valid) passport and my old (expired) passport with me.
Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, I handed over to immigration:
1. My DTV visa (in the old passport).
2. My new passport.
3. My Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC).
I did not proactively show or hand over my old passport (just had it with me as a backup). it turned out it was not needed, officer didn't ask. The process was completely smooth. Even though the DTV visa had my old passport number, the immigration officer was able to match everything without any issues.
A super straightforward and hassle-free experience! I hope this provides some clarity and reassurance if you're in a similar situation.
Just in case though I'll keep bringing on my old passport.
I got Dtv visa last week. I will be at Bangkok at February. With my 2 daughters. At passaport control, will police check 20x3k baht Cash? For 3 persons. How it works. Please update me. Thank You
Finally arrived in Thailand. I’ve never seen immigration this busy. It’s possible that it’s the time (13:00 Ish) of day and year as I normally arrive in the New year and early evening. On the other hand it could be the fact that sooooo many people are not filling in their TDAC. In my queue alone, I saw 8 people being turned back to go and fill it in. Plus a family of 4 in front of me, who hadn’t got a clue what the immigration officer was telling them. I explained it all to them but they expected myself and everyone behind me to wait while they filled it in. The immigration officer and myself was having none of that 😜. So please people do yourselves a favour and the rest of us queuing. Fill the TDAC in at the correct time.
Hey guys , I'm not good with search option so I apologize in advance. To the question - with this new digital arrival card system do we still have to report my address at office (my wife's house) or is it sufficient with the online card with correct address?
