Hello,

I've been preparing the necessary documents because I'll be flying to Vietnam next week to apply for the DTV under the Workcation category.

Please may someone kindly look over the list below and let me know if I'm missing anything? It would be most appreciated, as getting approved for this visa is very important to me.

Workation related documents:

- Introduction cover letter explaining what I do online (with company letterhead).

- Company registration papers showing myself as a director.

- 2 separate contracts with clients of said company detailing various services provided.

- 2 recent invoices for clients.

- A PDF of screenshots of my company's website that will show in detail the range of online services that I provide in the digital marketing space.

Other supporting documents:

- 6 month bank statement from Wise showing over 500,000 THB equivalent in balance (with official Wise verification stamp and signature included on the statement).

- 1 year lease contract for Thai apartment in Chiang Mai (the contract is from October 2024 and lasts until next October 2025).

- Hotel booking for stay whilst in Vietnam (for proof of Vietnamese address).

- Ticket for flight out of Vietnam.

DTV approved in Hanoi.

Applied on Monday and I was emailed yesterday saying it’s approved. Collected today. Here’s my experience in some detail:

For context, I’m a UK citizen working in freelance digital marketing. I booked the appointment online through the embassy website a week before (plenty availability).

I provided:

- Airbnb confirmation showing I was in Hanoi.

- Flight confirmation showing when I arrived in Hanoi (likely unnecessary as passport stamp will show this)

- Last 6 months of bank statements showing more than the 500k requirement. Submitted month descending showing the latest on top.

- A letter from a client saying I do freelance work for them.

- Contractor agreement from that one client.

- Invoices for the last 4 months from that client.

TLDR:

- write a contents page and make it easy for someone to read and understand your supporting documents.

- Have a read of the generic application form online first before arriving at the embassy so you know what to write.

- Search “Hanoi” in this group and read the posts from other people.

- Have patience and stay cool.

I had around 65 pages of supporting documents. I got this all printed at a copy shop in da nang for 30k. I saw others in this group write a contents page so I did the same. Each supporting documents type had a number with a circle on each front page and then referenced on the contents page in a very short summary. Makes it’s much easier to digest each document. All documents stapled together for each document type.

On Monday I showed up 20 mins before the appointment time. No one checked if I had an appointment. Went in and filled out the generic visa application form. Tick other and write DTV as there’s no option on the form. For reference it’s the same form that’s available on the HCMC embassy website. I joined the line for the counter. Two people serving but not many people in the line (at 11am). Other people in the line were asked for further evidence such as tax forms/latest bank statement before the application can be submitted but not sure if they were applying for DTV.

The staff checked over my application. Only feedback was a few missing fields on the generic visa application. The lady helped me with what to write. She reviewed all my documents and didn’t ask for anything more. Took the 340USD (crisp bills which I got from Quang Huy Gemstone shop). She then gives you a paper to keep with reference number on it. My time at the counter was much quicker than others and I think it’s down to the contents page making it easier for them to check. Highly recommend doing one. Was told it will take 3 working days to process but it took 2.

I returned to the embassy today with the reference paper. Staff told me to wait at the window outside and the same lady returned my passport with the visa sticker inside. Overall a pleasant experience with no problems.

Before I applying I did search “Hanoi” in this group and read most posts. It was really helpful and thanks to all who contributed 🙏.

Comment with any questions.

I have my appointment for DTV application in Vientiane, in 2 weeks. Getting my supporting documents together and have some questions someone might be able to help with.

FYI, I'm applying as a freelancer.

1, What information should be included in the "confirmation" letters from clients?

2, Do these letters just need to have client's company letterhead/logo and be signed and dated by them? Or will they also need to include their company stamp too?

3, Can I pay the visa fee in Thai baht at the consulate on the day?

Any insights from successful applicants would be great.

Thanks

DTV success in Vientiane! I applied Sept 11 as a freelancer and picked up on Sept 13. This is what I included in my application (I threw everything I had at it):

FOR THE FINANCIAL REQUIREMENT:

* Bank statements from the past year of 2 accounts adding to the required 500K (neither account has the full amount). Unfortunately my statements are only produced each quarter so I submitted screenshots of the current balance showing the most recent date (3 days before I submitted). At the counter, they asked me to write a short note explaining the discontinuity in the statements, which I did.

FOR MY PORTFOLIO AS A FREELANCE WRITER:

* My CV

* 6 Short "confirmation" letters from a sample of clients stating that I provide ongoing work from them since (date). Letters signed/logo and dated.

* Samples of invoices & pay slips/transfers to Wise over the past year.

* Screenshots of my LI & business FB page showing recent reviews.

* Screenshot of Fiverr profile showing recent reviews and earnings page.

ADDITIONAL:

* Application (obvs)

* Title deed (I own a condo so made sense to include that)

* Photocopies of every page in my passport, including the one showing entry to Laos.

I got there early on my appointment day. I had a number that put me in the 11:30-12 slot but I was out of there by 10am (first come first served). On pick up day, I got there at 12 and was first in line for the 13:30 open time. I was out by 13:31 :)

I was super stressed because my work has been thin and irregular for the past several months. Thankfully, I had enough history to show. So, it doesn't seem like consistent, regular income is required.

Also, I had a still-valid for 6 months education visa and was unsure if they would deny the DTV application on that basis. I got a re-entry stamp before I left just in case my application was rejected then I could still ride out the last months of my current visa. No problems. All good.

Hi! Earlier in Jan I did a 90 days report , and the address I used is different to the new TM30 receipt from yesterday. Will that be an issue for extension of stay if TM47 and TM30 have different addresses? TIA.

Hi everyone,

What supporting documents should I upload Thai embassy E-Visa? I live in the uk.

I have my passport uploaded and a photo of me but it’s asking for booking confirmation - I have attached a screenshot of my stay length and hotel as you can only submit one document per answer?

Also it’s asking for proof of location - I have used my driving license with my address on it?

In addition it’s asking for my flights - which I have used a screen shot of my plane tickets with names and flight number.

Lastly with the length of stay I have put 179 days as I’m applying for a multi entry tourist visa?

I know it’s only 60 days at a time though so should I put 60 days on the application?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks
