DTV Approved today (26 October) - Freelancer - London Embassy.🤩
Hi all, I thought I'd share my experience with the DTV as it is a little unorthodox. I applied for DTV through London on the freelancer/digital nomad route.
05 October - applied: police certificate, I uploaded 4 months bank statements, a cover letter explaining what work I do with links to my website, Linkedin and upwork as well as screenshots of portfolio and HMRC registration. As well as a service agreement with a recent client.
06 October - request for more documents: 3 months bank statement (July to September), flight details and a letter from employer/client.
This is where things are unorthodox, the day I applied I parted ways with that client due to differences. So I couldn't ask them for a letter.
I was in conversations with other clients that I was hoping I would confirm so I had some sort of agreement in place. I knew I had 14 days from the 06 October to supply the requests so I waited to see if anything would be contracted.
19 October - I uploaded the bank statements, flight details. I didn't have a client so I included a letter explaining what had happened, that when I applied my contract was active but I am no longer in a position to present a letter from a client. I asked them to consider my other supporting evidence and hoped they would appreciate my honesty. Also, reconfirmed I would not be seeking clients within Thailand.
26 October - Approved DTV 🥳
Honestly, I was super worried I would get rejected but I think it was my honesty and explanation that got me the visa. Also, surprised at the fast turn around.
I'm sharing to encourage anyone and everyone to keep the application process simple and honest. I know there's a lot of worrying experiences of others but every circumstance is different.
Wish you all the best 😆
