I just got approved for my DTV as a UK Limited Company owner.

Yep, at 10pm on a Bank Holiday.

I wanted to share my experience as I couldn't find many others in my situation. It took 6 working days (if we count today as a working day) to be processed and approved by the London Embassy.

In my initial application I sent:

1. A covering letter explaining my relationship to Thailand (recent holiday there), why I wanted to workcation there, and why it would benefit Thailand. I also confirmed that neither me nor my company would undertake work for or with Thai businesses or Thai people while there.

2. Passport photo page

3. A phone selfie taken on the day of the application

4. A headed letter from my company, in my capacity as Director, addressed to me, confirming that the company permits me to work remotely in Thailand for the duration of my visa. It also confirmed my duties.

5. Certificate of Incorporation

6. Driving license as proof of address

7. Screenshot from Companies House showing my appointment as Director

8. A personal bank statement showing £14,500 funds. It was a new savings account opened a few days before the application, and I transferred £14,500 to it the day of the application.

The morning after submitting the application I received the "Request for Further document" email.

They asked for:

1. Photograph taken within the last six months

2. Other request documents: - Your Professional portfolio or Your company description or Employment contract / Contract agreement.

There must have been something wrong with the first photo (it didn't show much of my shoulders) so I sent a new one.

I also sent another headed letter from the company describing the nature of the business, as well as providing a small portfolio of work.

5 working days later I got the approval email.

Pretty easy.

DTV Visa for a UK landlord

Hi there, I’ve been renting my house in the UK since 2015 (with Tax records). I’ve lived in Thailand around 3-4 years in total as a tourist. I’d really like to apply for a DTV visa to avoid all the travel and uncertainty of being let back in.

Can anyone offer any afdvuce on this subject? I have prof of funds.

I’d be happy to sort out professional support for this or another way including education or training program.

Many thanks

Update:

All approved without any further documents. Submitted as advised here, for which thanks to all.

Update 2.

Spouse/dependant visa now in too. 10 working days on the button. RTE Cambodia, no further docs.

Phew.

Anyway, apart from patience I learned a new skill at least: creating, merging and compacting PDFs!

Hello.

I own and run a portfolio of 9 UK rental properties remotely from Thailand and Cambodia. I have retirement visas in both and own a property in Thailand - usually need to fly back to the UK several times a year - and would like to change from retirement visa to DTV

On reading other people's experiences here, I've just opened a Ltd company with me as director.

Advice please on how to write the letter to myself saying I can operate this remotely.

Also, should I mention the property in Thailand/submit the yellow book?

Reason for wanting to change to DTV is that it isn't easy to have one's (in my case Cambodian) spouse accompany one on a retirement visa anymore (this is confirmed by Thai embassy, Cambodia). We will be applying in Cambodia.

Many thanks for your input
