Hi everyone,

I currently hold a Thai ED Plus visa after graduating from a university in Thailand, and I now have a Thai child. I would like to change my ED Plus visa to a Non-O (Child) visa.

Is it possible to do this within the country without leaving Thailand? I ask because Non-Immigrant ED Plus visas allow conversion to a Non-B without leaving the country.

I have all the required documents, including the birth certificate and the blue house registration book with my child’s name. I am also in the process of adding my name, as my local amphur requested some documents to be verified by Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

I also have a Thai bank account with 400,000 THB.

Could anyone please advise what additional documents are required? I would like to handle the process myself without using an agent, as many charge unreasonable fees even when I prepare all the required documents on my own.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If I fly in on a tourist visa with the intent to convert it into a retirement O visa, do I purchase a round trip with a " throw away" onward ticket? I intend on using a visa agent.

Trying to convert ED (Thai) to Elite.

Elite is telling me I need “an official document” from OBEC (Office of Basic Educational Commission). Elite is not being helpful in what this document is. I believe it is a document that I would take into immigration to cancel the ED visa.

The school is also unsure and can only provide documents from MOE (Ministry of Education). This a real school that I seriously attend and not some kind of agent visa or mill.

Anyone know what this document is, I need to be able to explain it to my school. Failure to get this document will results in needing a visa run.

Dear all,

Want to ask you about Thai visa conversion. My wife is joining me as dependent, so she got visa type O, and stay-permit 2 years. Now she is about to get a local job. Do we need to cancel current visa, and apply a work permit, or can convert current stay permit type O to work permit type B... Anyone knowing this, kindly advise. Just for us not go waste time making a new one. Thanks a lot.
