TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster (OP) applied for a DTV Visa for training but instead received a TR Visa valid for 6 months. This situation often arises when applications are considered insufficient, potentially due to not meeting the required duration of training. There are discussions among commenters suggesting that the OP may need to leave Thailand after 2 months but can extend the visa while in the country at an Immigration Office (IO). It's also mentioned that a TR Visa can be a suitable alternative for shorter stays or certain training programs.
I have seen some get it. It's METV and it's valid 6 months from the day you get it, and every time you enter Thailand you get 60 days which you can extend 30 days. I had that visa once, it gave me almost 9 months in Thailand with visa runs.
if u have no intentions to live in Thailand for a long term in the near future, you could just come in without any visa. U do 60 days, una border bounce and 60 more days. You can eventually extend both 60days up to 90 if you pay 1900baht at the immigration.
not necessarily. I mean, if the OP is from a country elegible for the visa waiver, then yes, total waste. But if he/she isn't, then 10,000 bahth for six months is not that bad.
As reference, each visa on arrival (for those from countries not elegible for the visa exemption scheme) entry is around USD 60 and it's valid for 15 days only.
Yes others have got the same. It is often given for not showing sufficient evidence to be awarded the DTV..e.g 1 -6 month course. You can extend at an IO.
