Hi all I'm currently in Thailand on a non O visa based on marriage. My visa expires mid September I need to leave Thailand on Monday for a short work trip for 3 days. Do you recommend a re entry permit or could I enter as a tourist stamped in on arrival. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user currently holds a Non-O visa based on marriage, which expires soon. They will leave Thailand for a short business trip and are questioning whether to obtain a re-entry permit or to enter Thailand again as a tourist. The comments suggest that without a re-entry permit, the user would lose their current Non-O visa status, necessitating reapplication for the visa from the beginning. Some recommend obtaining a re-entry permit at the airport to maintain their visa status and avoid complications with future visa extensions.

How long are you intending to stay and, more importantly, are you planning on getting the 12 month extension? Also consider if you start again on a Non-O your annual extension will be on the date when that Non-O expires every subsequent year, will that be an issue for you?
If I understand correctly because I’m applying for my Non-O under my wife. We can have single entry or multiple entry Visa. I’d recommend to reapply for your Non-O and just get it as a multi entry.
What is the reason you'd want to come in free stamp?
So you're not wanting to apply for a yearly extension of stay based on marriage to a thai?
You leave without a re-entry permit, you lose the stamp you're on, meaning you have to start all over from scratch with first the 90 day Non-O, then the year extension after that
