I was asked by a company today. For DTV freelancer, they say on their website that they need 4 months of money back and forth. Anyone have any information?

A good agency is fine.

How long did it take you, start from finish to submit the DTV application? Just curious.

Been putting it off but I meet all the requirements for workcation DTV and have access to all the paper work needed. Brit living in Manila, would be applying from there.

I heard something about technical aspect being a challenge, requiring to upload all files and pictures under 1 pdf file that's 3mb. I know there are tools for it so shouldn't be a big problem.

Is it doable start to finish in few hours, a day, a weekend, or needs a week or two?

I would need to put all the docs together but I have access to it all. Only one might have to think about proof of where I live in Manila - I live with gf and rental and bills are all in her name, but address is on my local tourist alien registration card, and I guess I could book a hotel for a day or two.

Hi, has anyone used their investments or annuity to create a business to hire yourself for the workcation dtv? If so how many months did you set up your business prior to applying? (If American would a dba certificate suffice or should I set up an LLC)

I have a stable annuity and would like to use that via a business instead of doing a soft power visa. (We prefer this bc although we want to take language classes we don’t want to be tied down to one area of the country for those classes)

I will be applying in London for the Workcation DTV in in Feb time and I am aware they might ask for self assessment tax proof. I will not have any proof because I will be applying in February and I can only file my self assessment in April. My freelance work started in May 2025 so I do not have a completed tax return yet.

Do you have any suggestions for what I should provide if they ask for this?

I'm about to apply for a Workcation DTV from the Los Angeles Consulate. I have all of my documents together. My question is should I create one large pdf of all of the documents together to submit everything at once or do I submit each document separately? i.e. passport biodata page, driver's license, employment certification and 6 months of bank statements. Thanks.

Anyone get the information required for filing income as a workcation DTV

The deadline to report is March 31. I was told that previously it was only if in country 6 months but now I read that any online business or creator or influencers need to report income. Never stated 6 month

Has anyone inquired at the revenue department?

Entry update: Entered Thailand via Chong Mek land border. I didn't ask him, but it seemed to be the immigration officer's first DTV, as he had to make a call and confirmed the 180 days. Everything went smoothly, got 180 days stamp. So happy! 😁

Just got my Workcation DTV approved from Vientiane Embassy as a self-employed online trader (Canadian passport). I do not work for a company, so I do not have a work contract. I also do not have any clients. I only manage my own trades. I do not have a registered company, only a registered Sole-Proprietorship business in my own name in my home province.

I won't list all the basic documents that everyone has to submit no matter their situation (form, pictures, passport, proof of location, etc), but here's what I submitted for my personal situation to show my digital nomad status:

- Presentation letter where I explained what I do and listed my business registration number and the attachements/supporting documents to follow

- Copy of my Sole-Proprietorship business registration

- Copy of my profit withdrawals to date in 2024

- Copy of my trading/tax reports to date in 2024

- Copy of my income tax report/notice of assessment for 2023

I did ask them in advance about the 500k, they had told me 3-6 months. I provided 6 months, but my statements are 14 pages long, so I only provided the first page of each statement that showed the opening balance, closing balance, my name and full address (no transaction detail) and that seemed to have been enough to make them happy.

When I went to apply, the person checking my documents asked me if I have an ATM card for that bank account specifically. I said no. He asked how am I going to access the money while in Thailand. I explained that I transfer to my Thai bank account and then have an ATM card for that account. He did not ask for any document related to my Thai bank account.

Again, this is at Vientiane Embassy. Don't rely on this if you apply anywhere else or have a different situation. I applied on 23 Aug AM (Friday) and received it today 27 Aug PM (Tuesday).

Good luck to everyone else applying!
