Hi, has anyone used their investments or annuity to create a business to hire yourself for the workcation dtv? If so how many months did you set up your business prior to applying? (If American would a dba certificate suffice or should I set up an LLC)
I have a stable annuity and would like to use that via a business instead of doing a soft power visa. (We prefer this bc although we want to take language classes we don’t want to be tied down to one area of the country for those classes)

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post explores the possibility of using personal investments or annuities to establish a business in Thailand that allows the author to hire themselves under the workcation dtv (Digital Nomad Visa). They are curious about the setup duration before applying and whether a DBA (Doing Business As) certificate is sufficient compared to an LLC (Limited Liability Company) for Americans. Responses from the community suggest that the soft power route may be simpler, emphasize the importance of demonstrating business legitimacy, and ask about current requirements for the workcation visa process.
When I applied I just said I'm content creator and screenshotted a few shots of my youtube channel and recent videos into a PDF file (that was not even monetized at that time) and as a good meassure added screenshots from my 3d artist portfolio.. (which I could pontentially do, but haven't been doing for a while) and that was it.. they did not ask for anything else. Do they ask for something more these days for workaction?
If its your own business i assume they want to see some clients, some tax paperwork etc so they can see its a legitimate business you will earn money in. And if its a new business they want to see how you going to take care of yourself until the business can pay salary enough
