My wife and I are planning to base ourselves in Thailand for the next 2–3 years and (fingers crossed) start our family there. I’m a remote employee for a U.S. company and my wife freelances. A few questions on the DTV process:
1) For the 500,000 THB financial requirement, will bank statements from investment/brokerage accounts be accepted, or do they need to be from a cash/checking/savings account? We have sufficient funds, but one account dipped below 500k recently due to an investment.
2) I’ve seen people mention an employer letter confirming permission to work remotely from Thailand. Is this actually required, and what wording do they expect?
3) I’ve also read that some consulates ask for recent payslips. My wife’s income varies as a freelancer. Because of Trump's shenanigans, lots of business (her clients) put a pause the last six months so he income has been very low to 0. Things are finally kicking in back into gear and she is signing up a few clients, but they won't likely start right before we apply for the DTV visa. Would this be a problem for her application even though we cover the minimum $ requirement? Would you recommend to have her as a dependent, rather than apply for her separate visa?
4) If we apply for her as a dependent, does that mean I have to first get my DTV visa approved and then apply for her as a dependent? Is there a way to do it simulatenously?
Does the letter from an employer just simply need to have your name, maybe company logo, maybe company contact, and simply state that you are employed by X company and work remotely?
Anything else like does it need to explicitly say you can work remotely from Thailand?
Has anyone had recent dealings with the London Thai embassy regading a multi entry TV? Their website states they need bank statements showing £5000 for six months and employer's letter, amongst other stuff. Talking today to the embassy, the officer (she wouldn't give her name) said they only need bank statements to show the funds in situ for two months and no employers' letter needed. Can't say I trust this verbal advice so, I wondered if anyone has gained a METV recently on this basis. I fear booking flights and committing funds, only to get turned down for not meeting the stated criteria on the website.
She is applying Non-B single at Singapore, currently on the online application process. And SG Embassy is asking her to submit "letter to request visa for you. Letter need to be address to the Thai Embassy Singapore".
Would anyone help me to know what this is?
Question:
- Is this letter in any specific form?
- From whom this letter is supposed to be written by?
- Any specific contents in case of free format other than "please issue visa for this person"?
- Any other additional information regarding this letter?
* She submitted similar letter which is used when you apply in Penang or other embassy/consulate already with other documents files..
