I want to convert to retirement visa but I read that you have to have money in a Thai bank for 3 months first but I also read you cannot do this if here as a tourist.
Is anyone able to advise the best way to get this done? Pay for visa agency or is it possible to do myself? Do I have to be out of the country to arrange? I am able to transfer 800,000 thb into a Thai bank account if I can open one.
I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but it's all very confusing when trying to arrange for the first time.
Quick question...to get a Non-O volunteer visa, one can either get that prior to their initial entry into Thailand, OR, they can come in on a tourist visa and then convert to the Non-O volunteer in-country, that right, or no?
I am Canadian,63 years old, will go to Thailand on 60 days tourist visa. When in Thailand will convert tourist visa into non O retirement visa.I will use affidavit of income from Canadian consulate in Bangkok to prove my finances.
When do I need to show this affidavit?
1) when applying for my first non O visa
2) my first extension of non O visa (90 days after receiving non O visa))
3) when applying AND than when extending my first non O visa.
If it is #3, timing of getting affidavit will be very important since affidavit from Canadian consulate is valid for only 90 days.
Hi all, i am in Thailand with a normal 30 days tourist visa and a big company in Bangkok want to employe me as a tunnelling specialist for several projects: how i can do to apply for a working visa if this company give me all requered documents like an invitation letter ecc? I'm almost more confused after coming back from the immigration office in Bangkok. I have the money deposited, They need an official letter from Bangkok Bank stating that the money came from overseas and said I should go to the Silom branch? I went to a different branch previously and they were confused by what I was asking for.
I'm assuming that once I have the retirement extension that's when I need to leave the country with my wife and visit the embassy and apply for her dependent visa, correct?
We tried to convert our tourist visa to a non-O visa at Maesai for retirement visa but we're told they can't do it for South Africans. Are there any retired South Africans out there that can help?
