Hi everyone,

I have the project to go live in Thailand this year. I've started to apply to engineer positions from my home country but I would like to pursue my research in Thailand.

As Non-immigrant B visa requires a job to get it, do you know an option allowing me to go in Thailand to carry on my job research there ?

Is the conversion of a tourism visa to a Non-immigrant B visa possible once I get a job there?

Thanks for your help

TLDR : Answer Summary
An individual planning to conduct research in Thailand expressed a need to understand visa options. Specifically, they inquired if it's possible to go to Thailand on a tourist visa and later convert to a Non-Immigrant B visa after securing a job. It was explained that the ability to convert from a tourist visa to a Non-Immigrant B visa depends on the employer's willingness to handle the necessary paperwork, with the alternative being applying from a Thai embassy outside the country.

Whether or not it is possible to convert from tourist to non-B is up to your future employer. Some employers are willing to provide the very large amount of paperwork it requires to do this conversion, but some employers are not willing or simply cannot do it. In that case you would be sent to a Thai embassy outside of Thailand to apply for the non-B with relatively little paperwork, which is the normal way of doing it and what most employers do
