By the way, I'm not sure if this group has updated the information, but I got my tourist visa rejected as of this last time. Apparently their 'new rule' is that foreigners are allows 2 tourists visas a year (plus extensions, if you want), and 2 land visas, totaling 8 months. Guess they don't want any long term visitors...
TLDR : Answer Summary
A recent post indicates that the current rules for tourist visas in Thailand have changed, allowing foreigners only two tourist visas per year, in addition to extensions. This is coupled with a limit of two land visas, potentially totaling a maximum stay of eight months. This suggests a trend towards restricting long-term visits.
