TLDR : Answer Summary
Currently, in Thailand, eligible visas for foreigners include: the Non-O visa for retirees, for marriage to a Thai national, or for raising half-Thai children; the Non-B visa for employment or teaching; and ED visas for language study or university enrollment. There are also Thai Elite visas available. Extensions include 30-day tourist extensions, 60-day family visit extensions, and one-year extensions for marriage, retirement, employment, or dependency. Eligibility might vary based on nationality and current travel restrictions.

Unless we know what nation they are flying from to get to Thailand... Or the passport nation carried... It's not possible for us to answer. As there are nations not eligible to enter Thailand at this time.

As well as countries where one flies from that are not eligible to enter Thailand.

Suggest that your friend ask the Thai Embassy in their country.

I have several questions as we are preparing to come in October would you mind if I PM you. All of the information you provide is very helpful!

Have them contact Thai Embassy in Myanmar for their options. Land borders to Myanmar are CLOSED for entry. There have been some enter with tourist visa from Myanmar..suggest you ask your question on the large group which has reports of several entering from Myanmar.
