TLDR : Answer Summary
For a trip to Thailand lasting just under 3 months, you do not need to obtain a visa before leaving. You can enter Thailand under a visa exemption for 60 days upon arrival and can extend your stay by an additional 30 days at an immigration office in Thailand. The extension will cost about 1,900 baht. It is advisable to extend your visa as close to the end of your initial 60 days as possible, and you may need proof of accommodation for your entire stay.

Tourist visa can do 3 months, you get it for 2 months and extend for a month once in Thailand. Or get a visa exemption on arrival for 60 days and extend it.

If you do want a visa, go on the official Thailand Consulate UK website and apply for a E visa 60 day entry.

It will cost you £ 30,and you can extend it for 30 days in Thailand before it expires.

I have just received mine, I always prefer to go with a bisa.

not necessary and way more expensive than the 1900 baht extension fee. The OP states he will be in Thailand for just under 3 months, so the extension is the easiest, cheapest, and best option.

Not VOA, which is limited to a few countrys, only 15 days, and cost a fee.

The extension is easy, just a little intimidating at first. And for those who want their full 180 days in Thailand per year, as you can only enter it twice in one calendar year on the exemption list. Doing 2, 60 day trips then takes away 60 days from you in Thailand.

You can only “bounce around” until a Immigration Officer suspects, that you are trying to live in Thailand, rather than being a genuine tourist.

Note, you can’t extend early on, so extend as close to the end of your 60 days as possible, and do it at the immigration office that your hotel is in, your hotel will have to get some paper work for you.

I’ve just come back last Friday. Got 60 days and could extend a further 30 days st immigration office if I wanted. You get 60 days now when arriving changed from 30. In total 90 days is available as a tourist.
