We are travelling to Thailand & a few other countries and want to get a 90 day visa for a family of four 2 adults 2 children 8-11 we have our flights booked going out for 30th December but not going back as we are not sure where we will be to fly back from yet. Please can I have some advice on when! and where! I should apply for the visas and if I should be aware of any issues getting the visas? Many thanks!!

TLDR : Answer Summary
For a family planning to visit Thailand, there is no specific 90-day visa available. Instead, you can apply for single-entry tourist visas valid for 60 days upon entry, which can be extended for an additional 30 days. Children under a certain age may enter without a visa, benefiting from visa exemption rules. Ensure you clarify your travel itinerary, as re-entering Thailand multiple times may require a multiple-entry visa or using free entry stamps if your country allows it.

If you're from a country that gets free entry to thailand just use free stamp entry

Time your stay in thailand to coincide with the amount of time you get in on free entry stamps (at this time 30 days)

there is no limit to the number of them you can get by air

so, come in, get 30 days, if you need extend that by 30 more days, (that's 60) go see the other countries, come back to thailand, get stamped in on a new free 30 day entry stamp, extend that by 30 days if you need to

If you go to Thailand, then to another country and back again to Thailand before your return to your home country remember that’s a “multiple entry” into Thailand.

Your post isn't very clear regarding your travel plans. Are you planning 90 days in Thailand, and then traveling to other countries? Or do you mean 90 days total, with Thailand as a hub, entering/exiting/re-entering Thailand? This will make a big difference in what you can/can't do, need to do etc.

90 days total Thailand as a hub

I think you're going to need help from the mods on this one. They're awesome and hopefully can help you figure out the best option for you. I don't think the 60 day visa exempt entry has started yet, but may likely be in place before December. But you may be better off with a Multi Entry Tourist visa. Maybe for each of you, I don't know about how that works with the kids. See what

have to say. Good luck.

You're confusing the 90 day validity period for the visa with how long a stay it grants. Single entry tourist visas are valid for use to enter Thailand once within 90 days from the day it is granted, but only give a 60 day stay once used to enter the country. You can extend it one time for 30 more days at immigration offices within Thailand for 1900 THB.

There is no 90 day visa for any of you, best you can do is a tourist visa for you and the other adult, visa exempt for the kids (they don't get fined for overstay) , and you get stamped in for 60 days and then apply for a 30 day extension.

ok thank you Lloyd, where do I apply for the 30 day extension do I have to leave the country and come back in? Is it easy to get the extension?

@Dean *******
you go to your local immigration office where they will extend for 30 days at 1900 Baht each

Just pop along to your local immigration office, where your TM30 is filed
