Question for y'all: I generally work as a freelance software engineer, but at the moment, I contract with a large corporation (call it A) via a separate staffing company (call it B). So, instead of a freelance contract with A, I have an assignment agreement from B that mentions that I'll be working with A.

The visa application asks for evidence of "digital nomad, remote worker, foreign talent or freelancer status." So I wrote a cover letter (attached) explaining that I'm generally a freelance software engineer, and furthermore explaining the situation above about my current employment. In that PDF, I also include my assignment agreement per above, as well as several past contracts where I truly was a freelancer.

Should that suffice? Will there be any confusion about my employment situation?

Thanks!

Hello! My DTV visa for Thailand was just approved! I applied for Soft Power from Hanoi! Although many told me it wouldn't be worth the investment, I submitted my pay stubs to Revolut and already had a checking and investment account. To enter Thailand, would I just need to present the visa? Thank you so much for your help.

Hello community, how are you? Do you know what I mean by work documents? I applied in Hanoi, Vietnam. I've already uploaded my pay stubs and employment contract, but I don't know what else to upload. I also work freelance with clients in the marketing department and have contracts. Should I upload that too? Should I write a letter explaining the situation? This would be the third time they've asked me for more information.

Hello, my Wife and I live in Canada and wish to move to Thailand in Jan 2026. We wish to apply for DTV under the Remote worker category.

Most likely, my wife is going to be the main applicant, while I will be applying as a dependent. The question we had was about the 3-month payslips that we have to show.

Current situation: My wife currently works at a Director level in a University in Canada. She wishes to quit this job by Dec 2025 before we travel to Thailand in Jan 2026. lets say we apply for DTV around Nov 2025, do we submit payslips from this Canadian University?

Future situation: By Oct 2025, she is also expecting to receive a job offer from a Univertsity in Malaysia, where her role will be of an adjunct faculty working remotely from thailand. Her offer letter can state this too. The catch is, although she will get the new job offer by Oct 2025, she doesnt wish to take up any teaching assignments until Jan 2027. We wish to travel thailand from Jan 2026 to Jan 2027(taking a gap year).

Question: When required to submit 3 months' payslips, does she have to provide them from the current job in Canada, or will the embassy expect to see payslips from the new Malaysian university?

Any suggestions in this regard is much appreciated.

Los Angeles DTV Update Workcation: Remote Employee (I do not own the company)

I simply wanted to share my experience so far. LA continues to be a long and difficult process for DTV.

Reading experiences from previous people who applied, I added way more documents than requested. I included:

1. Proof of Residence via Lease and Bank Statements

2. Proof of Income/Finances at ~$40,000 USD in one savings account, plus an additional $8,000 USD in another checking account, both backed to the last 6-months. I also included paystubs from my current employer.

3. Employment Contract, Remote Work Agreement, Business Incorporation Documents, Taxes for 2024.

On all of them I provided a cover letter that explained what was included and for what purpose.

Applied May 29th. Received notice June 13th requesting further documents. Four out of the Five requested documents were already included in the initial application:

1. Proof of Location via a Utility Bill (I Included via Lease and Bank Statement)

2. Proof of Finances over $17,000 for the last 3-months (I included 6-months in previous application)

3. Employment Contract (Included in Last Application)

4. Business Portfolio w/ Description of Business Activities (This one was not included prior)

5. Remote Work Agreement (Included in the previous)

I'll keep you updated as to what happens next!

Edit: As of today, June 23rd, it was approved!

Me and 2 of my friends just got rejected in Hanoi, what's wrong with that consulate?!

500k+ thb bank statement showing all transactions for the last 6 months. IT job with 2500$+ salary per month (employment agreement, job cover letter, company registration, paystubs for the last 6 months, 2024 tax declaration)

OK, I've heard that they reject randomly, but 3 person in 1 day 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Can we apply in Jakarta now? Or any other consulates recommendations?

I am

Really confused because when applied I already supplied all the documents, and now they ask for that

Can some clarify this ?

Financial evidence: an amount of no less than 500,000 THB (e.g., bank statements for the last three months, sponsor letter): A deposit account shows the transactions last 6 months in English and the account balance or a combination of a deposit/saving account totaling not less than 500,000baht. Stock/Crypto/Bitcoin/Investment/Business/PayPal account and sponsor are not accepted

Other request documents: Please provide details about your current work, including (1) your CV or portfolio, and (2) examples of your work, along with any supporting materials that demonstrate your experience and qualifications.

Other request documents: Provide the salary slips/income for the past 6 months, please highlight them in your transaction records.

Hi all, I’ve been in the group for a while and had a question. Currently, I’m living in Thailand on an ‘educational’ visa, working remotely. I want to apply for the DTV around September, from my home country. However, my employer doesn’t actually know I’m working abroad, and I don’t think they’d allow it either. In other words, I won’t be able to provide a confirmation letter stating that I’m allowed to work abroad.

What I do have is an employment statement that shows I’m working remotely. It doesn’t explicitly mention that I’m allowed to work abroad, but it doesn’t disprove it either. My question is: Would this be sufficient for the application? And does it matter that I’ve been on an educational visa previously? Once this visa expires, I’ll apply for the DTV.

Hope to hear from you all!

I am US citizen, who owns his own business in the US and I don't pay myself a salary but installments. I have shown that I have more than $500K baht requirement with supporting documents to show I own 100% of my business but I have been requested to provide the following below...

It's frustrating because my fiancé got approved with no problem as a business owner but I keep getting asked for more documents... Mind you this is with the Thai Embassy in Los Angeles, CA.

Has any other business owners had to provide the following:

* Other request documents: Guarantee letter from the company implies that you work remotely

* Other request documents: Employment contract or employment certificate from company
