Hi gang. Has anyone tried extended their current 6 month dtv? Mine is running out in late March and I was thinking about extending it considering I might only stay in Thailand until June. I am asking because from what I've read it is a pain in the you know what. Has anyone tried and succeeded or failed?

I'm flying to Bangkok next week with Indigo Airlines (ams-mum-bkk) (one-way). I want to prepare for my DTV (deposit enough cash into my Thai account) and marry my fiancée at the end of the year. I want to take advantage of the first 60-90 days (60-day stamp / 30-day extension). This is where the uncertainty begins, as Indigo's support is very unreliable and I can't reach the check-in counter. I don't want to get into trouble, but I also don't want to waste money unnecessarily with onward tickets that aren't accepted or bus/train tickets that aren't recognized either. As I understand it, I can't use the 90 days without buying a ticket I wouldn't use. As a European, there don't seem to be any "cancellation" tickets; as I understand, that only applies to US citizens. Do you have any tips on how best to do this? Is it best to fly to Malaysia? Or are there cheaper options? Is it possible to buy tickets through Expedia? (They are cancelable or flexible).

And another question: is it still possible to get a DTV from a dentist about braces?

Canadian Passport

Entered on 60 day visa exempt

Got the 30 day extension

Got the 60 day (visiting family) married to a Thai extension

Documents (forms);

-TM7

-The Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay

-Acknowledgement of terms and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the kingdom of Thailand

-TM30

-TM6 (it was issued to me at the land border crossing)

-Kor 2

-Wedding Certificate (rose border)

-Wife change name certificate (only if your wife changed her last name to yours)

-Wife birth certificate

-Wife ID card

-Wife house book

-Rental agreement (make sure it’s signed by the owner/manager)

Just wanted to give some information regarding the 60 day married to a Thai extension while here in a 60 day exempt stamp.

As I was unsure if I was going to be able to get this extension after the 30 day one. I asked the immigration office when I was there last month and she said it wouldn’t be a problem just to make sure my wife was there when I applied. I already knew this as I’ve done this many times in the past.

I got to IT Square around 6:30am and I was first in line. I did book an appointment for 8:30am but it really doesn’t matter there because you still have to sit in the queue, which makes no sense.

After the first set of immigration officers looked over my paper work about 5 times, almost as if they were looking for a reason to deny me. Little do they know, I’ve been through this many times and I’ve learned from my past mistakes. I have everything ready the day before, forms filled out, picture, photo copies etc.

After they finally gave me the queue number, I went into the main office area. Again, my paper work is looked over multiple times, just looking for a reason to refuse or make me do something over again. Once again, I’m well prepared.

I will say this, they went over everything with a fine tooth comb. I’d advise that you have copies and the originals for everything. She even pointed out that my old passport number was on one of the wedding forms we filled out back when we registered our marriage. I explained we got married and I had to get a new passport since. No problems there. She then went over our rental agreement, which I’m not on in the first place. She then asked my wife a couple of things and after all that I was told to go sit in the waiting for passport section.

We were in at 8:30am out at 8:50am. It pays to be there nice and early.

Hope this helps someone.

Hiya

I am in Thailand - I have a UK passport and entered on the 30-day, no visa needed entry.

I have heard that it’s possible to stay slightly longer (max 30 extra days) via a specific process - anyone know how to do this?

Many thanks

Does anyone with experience of extending a 30/45 day visa exemption stamp know whether it’s easier/quicker to do it in Bangkok or Ko Samui?

Does it matter when during the initial period you get the extension? Do they add the 30 days to the original validity date or from the date of the extension application?

Hello everybody! Today’s the last day of my TR visa here and I wanted to get an extension but I didn’t know I have to book an online appointment for that. Is it possible to just go the immigration office without an appointment? If not, I will be overstaying for 1 day since today’s my last day does anyone know how much I’ll have to pay for that? Thanks!
