Canadian Passport

Entered on 60 day visa exempt

Got the 30 day extension

Got the 60 day (visiting family) married to a Thai extension

Documents (forms);

-TM7

-The Acknowledgement of Penalties for a Visa Overstay

-Acknowledgement of terms and conditions for permit of temporary stay in the kingdom of Thailand

-TM30

-TM6 (it was issued to me at the land border crossing)

-Kor 2

-Wedding Certificate (rose border)

-Wife change name certificate (only if your wife changed her last name to yours)

-Wife birth certificate

-Wife ID card

-Wife house book

-Rental agreement (make sure it’s signed by the owner/manager)

Just wanted to give some information regarding the 60 day married to a Thai extension while here in a 60 day exempt stamp.

As I was unsure if I was going to be able to get this extension after the 30 day one. I asked the immigration office when I was there last month and she said it wouldn’t be a problem just to make sure my wife was there when I applied. I already knew this as I’ve done this many times in the past.

I got to IT Square around 6:30am and I was first in line. I did book an appointment for 8:30am but it really doesn’t matter there because you still have to sit in the queue, which makes no sense.

After the first set of immigration officers looked over my paper work about 5 times, almost as if they were looking for a reason to deny me. Little do they know, I’ve been through this many times and I’ve learned from my past mistakes. I have everything ready the day before, forms filled out, picture, photo copies etc.

After they finally gave me the queue number, I went into the main office area. Again, my paper work is looked over multiple times, just looking for a reason to refuse or make me do something over again. Once again, I’m well prepared.

I will say this, they went over everything with a fine tooth comb. I’d advise that you have copies and the originals for everything. She even pointed out that my old passport number was on one of the wedding forms we filled out back when we registered our marriage. I explained we got married and I had to get a new passport since. No problems there. She then went over our rental agreement, which I’m not on in the first place. She then asked my wife a couple of things and after all that I was told to go sit in the waiting for passport section.

We were in at 8:30am out at 8:50am. It pays to be there nice and early.

Hope this helps someone.

Hiya

I am in Thailand - I have a UK passport and entered on the 30-day, no visa needed entry.

I have heard that it’s possible to stay slightly longer (max 30 extra days) via a specific process - anyone know how to do this?

Many thanks

Does anyone with experience of extending a 30/45 day visa exemption stamp know whether it’s easier/quicker to do it in Bangkok or Ko Samui?

Does it matter when during the initial period you get the extension? Do they add the 30 days to the original validity date or from the date of the extension application?

Hello everybody! Today’s the last day of my TR visa here and I wanted to get an extension but I didn’t know I have to book an online appointment for that. Is it possible to just go the immigration office without an appointment? If not, I will be overstaying for 1 day since today’s my last day does anyone know how much I’ll have to pay for that? Thanks!

Hello - I went to immigration office today for 30day extension and they gave me this after I handing them application, they stamped and marked up this paper and stuck it into my passport, handed it to me, and they said nothing. I just walked away thinking it was all finished, but now I'm not sure. Is this all the constitutes visa extension 30 days? Is there no stamp in my passport?

I Went to CW this morning, retirement extention renewal, and a couple of updates, one to do with 90 day reporting and one on the year's statement of bank account.

Firstly 90 day, surprisingly the immigration op took my existing 90 day slip out of my passport, it still had a month to go, and printed of a new 90 day slip for me valid until Jan '22. That's not happened before but is very helpful and syncs my 90 day reporting and non-O extension renewal.

Secondly, a comment the year's bank statement. My non-O is renewable around the end of October. Last year I renewed it in mid-September. Yesterday I got a 1 year printed statement from the 1st Oct '20 until yesterday's date, Oct 7th, so 1 year and 1 week. Today I was very politely informed that that wasn't long enough and the statement should run from last year's extention renewal date, in mid-september, so they wanted a 1 year 3 week statement, not a straight year. I was told that they would ask the supervisor to accept what I'd given but if not I'd have to get an addition to what I'd given. My statement was accepted and extention given but it's worth remembering that your bank statement needs to run from the date of your last extention which at CW may mean a 13.5 month statement is possibly neededin an extreme cases.

Other than that learning, a very easy, fast morning at CW. I arrived at 8am, was ticket 92, then given ticket 11 for section L1 and all finished by 9.20.

A pleasant experience.

Information Only, after reading about Re-entry Permits in Bangkok I decided to go to Suvarnabhumi to buy mine before I leave next month.

I chose BKK because transportation is easier than the other offices for me.

I got all the way here to find out that you can ONLY get 1 the day you fly out. Unfortunately that was not mentioned on anyone of the 3 sites I read.

I guess I could have asked here but it seemed to trivial to bother when I thought I could read for myself.

Again FYI.

An FYI in respect of extending a tourist visa at Promenada, Chiang Mai.

Arrived at 13:00 (Monday). Queue outside the immigration office (the actual outside between the two malls, not at the seats inside the mall, initially made that mistake). They check your paperwork, take your cash and give you a ticket.

One thing to note is that they won’t accept passport photo sized photos, you have to get the bigger ones (฿200 at the copy shop next door).

You then go inside and wait for your number to be called. It’s a lot slower than my experience at the Phuket office. Whole process took about 3.5hrs - I think there were about 60 numbers in front of me (30 mins in initial Q, 3hrs once I had a ticket).

They also don’t seem to be fussed about what you are wearing.
