I saw a post about using regular dental appointments as a valid "soft power" category but can't find it now.. What sort of documented evidence would you need to provide for that and does it have to be any specific treatments ?

Thanks 🙏

Hi Everyone,

I am looking to apply for a DTV1 workation visa, as a PhD student/academic with a regular income (stipend from the Economic Social & Research Council).

Does anyone have any experience with this type of application? There isn't really any other suitable visa that I can apply for?

Thanks for any input!

I am applying for a DTV under the soft power (Muay Thai) category in Europe. I plan to put the info that I am employed and include my salary range and the company name in the application, as I’ve been advised that income can strengthen the application.

Did anyone receive a request to submit an employment contract and a company letter confirming that you are allowed to work remotely when applying under the soft power category? I would prefer to keep my employer out of the process.

Also, when asked how you will support yourself in Thailand, is it better to state your current foreign job or savings?

Asking because I can’t find an absolute answer, is it mandatory to have a constant income in order to get a DTV? Am I obliged to be in Thailand continuously like with the student visa?

DTV Soft Power approved – Hanoi // 9 business days 😊

-Online application submitted: 30 November

-Request for additional documents: 03 December

-DTV approved: 11 December

Applied under the Soft Power category: Thai cooking course with House of Taste (Thai cooking class) in Bangkok.

French passport holder, with only two tourist stamps this year.

I didn’t go through an agent

For each document, I prepared a table of contents and organized everything neatly in the correct order.

Doc 1 : Financial Evidence

* Letter from my bank confirming 500,000 (balance)

* My last 3 bank statements (the last one show the 500k baht)

* Currency Conversion

* Sponsorship letter + sponsor’s passport + photos of us together (it's my boyfriend)

* Sponsor’s last 3 bank statements

I added a sponsor because I didn’t have the 500k for the last three months—only in the most recent month. I don’t know if it helped, but in any case, I didn’t get refused.

Doc 2 : Confirmation of participation (Soft Power – Thai Culinary Arts)

* My motivation Letter

* School Acceptance Letter / Confirmation of Enrollment

* Official document from the culinary school confirming my acceptance and the program schedule.

* School license, tax registration, business certificate of the institution’s legitimacy.

* Invoice demonstrating payment for the Thai culinary course.

Doc 3 : Proof of Current Location

* Copy of my entry stamp, copy of my boarding pass

* Flight Booking and Payment Receipt

* Accommodation Booking Confirmation

* Proof of hotel reservation (Booking.com reservation)

Request for additional documents: All the stamped pages of my passport.

I hope this can help someone with their DTV application — it’s very simple and easy to do on your own.

Hello,

I applied for the DTV under the “soft power” category, and I have an upcoming interview at the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka. If anyone has gone through a similar interview, could you share what kind of questions or topics were asked? I would really appreciate any information.

We got our DTV Visa a year ago, has anyone had to re-varify ongoing medical treatment under the "soft power" catagory? We did get dental work done last year, do we need to get a letter from our dentist again to show to immigration at the airport entering Thailand this return trip??

Hey guys any pros vs cons for selecting the “soft power” category for the DTV visa vs the digital nomad category? Prefer to keep my work stuff and employment info private if the visas are exactly the same. It’s showing 2 DTV categories 1 for digital nomads and 1 for soft power activities such as medical which I am also eligible for. Will the one I select matter?
