I’m from New York and looking to enter Thailand on Dec 12 for a one month tourist visit (living there will probably be a next year thing). If I submit my visa application as a remote worker now (I own my own business), would it be approved in time? Or should I not risk it and just apply with my next trip at a later date?
I’ve read here that I shouldn’t leave my country while applying for the visa. I can apply after my trip but I’m worried the DTV rules will change and be more difficult to obtain.
For the people who have applied at the Taipei location - I applied this morning - dropped off everything needed and all the officer worker said was ‘come back today at 4pm’. She didn’t said approved or not, all she said was ‘I don’t know’. She didnt take the money yet either …
Are you suppose to pay upon pick up?
Talk about keeping us hanging for the next 6 hours lol
Is this the same experience you all got from applying in Taipei?
Currently in the UK so I applied via the e-visa website, so the UK Thai consulate handled everything.
Couple of interesting points to mention:
- it only took 4 days to approve
- the 500k was only transferred to my UK bank account a week before I applied. I only provided my august 2024 bank statement - they didn't ask for anything else
- part of that 500k was a small loan from my parents. When they transferred the money to my bank account they put "loan" as the reference. This didn't cause any issues or raise any questions.
- I applied via the medical tourism route. I asked my dentist to write me a letter detailing a couple of appointments that I have during September and next year.
Overall, I would say that my experience of applying for the DTV was incredibly easy and straightforward. Very quick and no questions asked.
Happy to answer any questions relating to my specific experience.
