Hello everyone, I’d like to ask something.
I’ve already applied twice and was rejected both times (the first time under the freelance work category, and the second time under soft power).
My question is: how long should I wait before applying again? And is it true that if you get rejected the first time, it’ll be harder to get approved in the next attempts?
Thank you so much for all your comments!
Just wanted to share my experience applying for the DTV — hopefully this helps anyone going through it!
🗓 Timeline:
• Friday 24th Oct – Submitted my application
• Wednesday 29th Oct – Approved ✅
(No additional information requested)
🥋 Muay Thai Training / Activity Requirement:
I applied under the Muay Thai training category with Lamai Muay Thai Camp, Koh Samui.
They were really helpful and super quick providing all the paperwork needed.
The program is a 6-month membership, offering up to 6 days per week / 2 hours per day training for around 34k THB.
Attendance isn’t mandatory every day, but they did say to attend regularly (at least weekly) as immigration may check attendance.
📧 For anyone needing info or documents from them, contact Nikki at muaythaitour@hotmail.com — she was amazing and very efficient.
⚖️ Visa Assistance:
I used Siam Legal (Bangkok) for consultation and processing. They do charge a fee, but it made everything stress-free.
Highly recommend Kanda — she was fantastic and very responsive 🙏
✈️ Where I Applied:
I was advised to apply in Hanoi for faster processing — and that was definitely true. From submission to approval, it took only 3.5 working days!
🌴 Overall, it’s been a smooth experience and I’m really happy with how easy it was.
Hope this helps anyone applying soon — good luck everyone! 🤞💙
UPDATE : Visa was approved and status changed back to request interview.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I JUST RECEIVED MY APPROVAL !!!!
After calling the embassy multiple times with no response and one lady told me it's no point of me coming to the consulate if I don't have an appointment, I decided to write them an email again.
I sent the third email with urgent and flight date on 03.11 in the REFERENCE
In the email I sent my condolences to the passing of the queen and that we love Thailand and have been there yearly every winter since 2020.
My visa just got approved!!!! This time it is an INDEPENDENT DTV not as a follower of my husband like the DTV visa I received on the 14th October!!!!
I'm beyond happy and exited for our next chapter as a family in Thailand with our dog.
Thank you so much for your help and advice !!!! I'm so happy !!!!
Visa was approved and status changed back to request interview
I went to the interview on the 20th of October and 9 days later, the status has not changed.
I sent 2 emails to Frankfurt with no reply. What should I do ?
Please help, I'm so worried. I'm not from a visa exempted country, my husband is German. He got his DTV in May.
Our flight is next week Monday 03.11.
The emails I sent all got unanswered.
Question + Best Agency?
Hey everyone,
I'm seeing some sources that say that how long you have to keep 500k THB in your bank is different depending on where you apply.
For example if you apply from HCMC Vietnam the requirements are only stated as statement of last 6 months, and a balance of no less than 500.000 THB. No 3 month requirement is mentioned, I emailed them directly too.
I also found some people mentioning that they got their DTV visa by applying in HCMC literally a week after their balance got to 500.000 THB.
Im not asking this to cut corners, I have the balance and more, but it's in my business bank not in my personal, so I have to transfer the required amount to my personal bank.
Thats why I wanna know, how long do I actually have to keep this money in bank before I apply in НСМС? Would appreciate if anyone can tell me about their experience as well.
Oh and I’d appreciate it if you guys can share the agency you worked with that got it for you first try.
Thanks!!
Hello, I need some help
I have already paid for the Muay Thai course, but I’m still waiting for the proof of confirmation to attend the activity.
It’s been two weeks now, and I haven’t received the document yet. I’ll be traveling with my girlfriend on November 15.
Could you please let me know what format the confirmation document from the Muay Thai gym usually comes in?
And is it possible to obtain the DTV in time before November 15?
Can I know how many months worth of proof do I need to show of my income if I am applying for the remote worker/freelancing. Let say I started working remotely about 2 months. But the income is not much and not constant. Please advice thank you 🙏🏻
Do you need to have worked for a company for at least 6 months before applying for the DTV?
Left Thailand and returned for the first time on the DTV.
Flew down to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and back into Hat Yai, Thailand.
Zero issues. No questions.
Just a big smille when I handed the cute border guard girl my passports size, laminated DTV visa.
She stamped my passport with a date 180 days from today.

Arun Thai Cooking school documents.
I wrote a cover letter in English explaining that I will write a small letter in Thai explaining why I choose soft power cooking. I explained why in Thai because I had previously studied Thai getting an ED visa for 18 months and wanted to show that I actually studied and am continuing to learn Thai. The letter was basic and just said Thai food is famous and listed some of my favorites and that I want to learn.
Last time I went Bangkok in January 2025 after spending a month in Japan, I got grilled by the IOs for trying to come back without a proper visa. Because I had basically lived in Thailand for a little over two years. Mostly with ED visa. So an hour later they agreed to let me in but they left a note on my file that said I would apply for the dtv visa.
Huge thanks to the group for all the help. I'm excited to go back! Happy to answer any questions!
I am looking for soft power options in Krabi/ao nang.
I was planning on doing Discover Thai Nature, like many have suggested and the information is very interesting to me. I thought it was virtual seminars and I now realize it's in person classes in Bangkok. I do not want to live in Bangkok. I also after further research learned that there are no fully virtual class options on DTV.
Basically just looking for soft power options in Krabi if anyone has any recommendations I would really appreciate it.
I searched the group and just found one person saying they are doing Muay Thai but didn't list the gym
Thank you so much for any help
