Paying it forward (thanks all):

Approved from the Thai Embassy Canberra, Australia - Workation category.

Documents submitted:

- Cover letter explaining business and nature of my work.

- Screenshot of Google Search results of my business

- Screenshot of my work portfolio

- Most recent invoice

- Profit and Loss statement

- Balance sheet

- Australian Business Registration certificate

Financials

- Cover letter explaining net worth

- Bank statements verifying letter

My thoughts:

- Make it easy; embassy staff don't wanna decode your unexplainable waffle of documents. Number the subsequent pages in your cover letter and explain their reasoning/purpose.

- The nature of the visa is discretionary, so build an image of your entite situation as if you're building a legal case (as you are, in many regards)

- Meaningful proof is the most important. You can't fake a strong online presence or a long-lasting business registration.

- Use an online tool to condense and compile your PDFs

SHARE: Jakarta, Indonesia Embassy

Family of three from New Zealand. (Me as lead, husband as spouse and daughter 12 as dependJonny Greenert)

18th November 2024.

Applied this morning.

Hubby Jonny got short straw and went to wait at Embassy early am. He was there by 6.15am and was 10th in the queue. Probably about 100 people behind us by the time the doors opened.

In and out by 10am. The Embassy Team were super helpful all around from security to the team accepting your documents and payment. - gave back any docs not needed, took payment and gave slip to come back on Thursday to collect passports after lunch.

Applied under Remote Worker / Digital Nomad

We have two companies in NZ - one tourism, one business coaching. We choose to apply under the business coaching business cause client contracts, income and portfolio was easiest to create.

Provided the following:

For me as “DTV” remote worker

Bank account with NZ $66k at ending balance (about 1.3m baht) gave six months balance fluctuates from $2k through to the $66k throughout that period.

Investments of approx $80k at ending balance (approx 1.6m baht) kinda liquid - added just in case.

Company registration in NZ plus NZBN registration, plus companies office extract which shows the two of us as sole shareholders of business with our trust - which on the extract shows our names and my Mum’s as our third trustee. My husband and I are the two directors of the company.

Stripe report showing subscription payments of approximately NZ$300k over 12 months - didn’t bother giving Xero invoices and payments to bank as it felt excessive. I also printed out all existing client contracts but they didn’t want those. For all financials we put into xe.com to exchange and screenshot and added to application.

Letter from my husband and I saying I can work remotely.

Employment Contract showing I can work remotely and remuneration is dependent on profit of company.

Screenshot on PDf of my website, social channels and podcast.

Rental agreement for house in Thailand

Airbnb printout for Jakarta

Flight details for Friday this week.

For Jonny

Marriage certificate.

Sponsorship letter saying I am responsible for him financially and he will follow all the rules in Thailand. While educating our daughter in the rich Thai culture.

Copies of bank statements / financials.

Copy of my passport and his.

For daughter

Birth certificate

Sponsorship letter saying same as above and that Jonny would homeschool.

Copie of bank statements / financials.

Copy of my passport and hers

Three yellow envelopes of cash each with $5.6m rupiah.

Stuff to think about:

ATMs in Jakarta seem to have upper limit of $2.5m per withdrawal. So you’ll need to do three even if there is just one of you. We had to do 7 withdrawals.

Accommodation and flights to and from Jakarta from NZ to Thailand afterwards were all still cheaper than applying in NZ.

Now we wait - will update on Thursday when we pick up passports - or earlier if they ask/need further information from me.

Been in and out of Thailand since June 2024 - both Jonny and I have left for work and our all extensions done for our daughter.

Any questions hit us up below. Aside from the early start very smooth easy process. Huge thanks to this community for all the tips.

Hi, I received a 60-day visa exemption on arrival and have been in Thailand for 3 weeks now. Can I just go to Immigration now to extend my visa for another 30 days, or do I need to wait until closer to its expiration, like 10 days before or something? Thank you. 🙏

Next month will go to Vientiene to apply for the DTV...

Currently living in Bangkok and have proof of residence, Thai bank accounts (with the necessary funds for the last year) and have enrolled in a Muay Thai class (with dtv authorisation documents)

How many days do you think it will take to get the DTV approved once in Laos?

Thanks in advance for your responses

Has anyone entered Thailand via Nong Khai border with a new DTV?

What was your experience like?

Richard Jenkins made this post earlier but he had his passport number visible in one of his images so I edited the image, deleted the post and messaged him to repost it.

He can't receive messages from people so he didn't see my message

Here's his thread

In July 2023 obtained a 12 month Non OA Visa based on retirement from the UK. This was multiple entry by default. To get a new year entry stamp (following advice from this group - thanks!) I renewed my health insurance and back in Junr I re-entered Thailand, presented the new insurance and the old visa and was duly given a new 1 year Non-OA Visa (14June 2024 to 13 June 2025).

Back in late September 2024 I left Thailand for the UK and then returned on the 21 October. When I got to immigration at BKK they told me that the Non-OA Visa wasn't valid because I didn't have a reentry permit. This was a bit of a shock to me because my previous Non-OA Visa was multiple entry and there weren't any extra stamps in the passport to show that.

I debated with first the immigration officer and then her superior but to no avail. They both informed me that the Visa was not valid because I did not have a reentry permit. I assume this was correct although I have to say I was pretty pissed off. So now I have a 60-day visa-free stamp in my passport issued at BKK. It expires on the 19th of December. I live in Pattaya.

Is it possible for me to obtain a 90 day Non-O visa based on retirement or even better a 12 month Non-O visa based on retirement without leaving Thailand. I meet the financial requirements, have a current TM30 and previous TM30s and also have a 12 month contract for the condo I rent. Have valid passport and can get photos.

Do I need any more documentation?

I would normally go to the local immigration in Pattaya but would happily travel to Bangkok if that made any difference.

Thanks for your advice.

I was just informed by the US Embassy staff that I can transfer my old extension of stay (Non-O Marriage) stamp to my new passport at Suvarnabhumi before my flight. Just want to verify this is correct and how long it takes to do this so I do not miss my flight. Also, has anyone renewed a US passport recently and can share the processing time it took to receive the new one? Thank you!

Hello

As a french if I run out of visa on the 21st of december and I want to stay longer in Thaïland, how many days would I win if I go for a visa run on the 22nd of november in Ranong to Myanmar border ? (30 days more from the 21st of december or 30 days more from the 22nd of november (which would be pointless in that case...)?)

Thank you

Hello everyone! Besides Airbnb, are there any good websites to look for short term rentals in Thailand and specifically in the Pattaya area? Thanks.

Ah they're cute these embassies. Sitting in hotel in Hanoi after two and a half weeks in Vietnam ready to fly out this afternoon.. Husband had his DTV and I was the hanger on. They stopped asking for documents on Wednesday and I thought I'd better go to the temple yesterday. It worked. As of 5 minutes ago, I have a DTV which hotel has printed out.
