Hello. Has anyone managed to book a ticket on the official Thai Railway website? Apparently, train reservations are only possible the day before the travel date?

For short distance portions you can book only the day before. For example, in the train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, you can book Bangkok-Chumphon on advance, but Bangkok-Hua Hin only the day before. I know many people going to Hua Hin that book to Chumphon just to grab a seat. The difference in money wouldn't be much. I personally just book exactly at midnight, so there's always places.

Short route trains (less than 4hrs) short time in advance. Longer routes or sleeper berths longer time. No data found means seats not available.

What Eric said. Also keep checking back if you don’t see what you want as seats can become available at the drop of a hat.

The sleeper and 2nd class air carriages can be booked early. The 2nd and 3rd class fan only seats are one day.

Also depends on your destination points.
