Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask if having 500k spread across three bank accounts is acceptable when applying for the DTV. My savings are split between THB and EUR on Revolut, and my local currency in a domestic bank account—so overall, three different currencies across two banks. I’ll probably apply in Ho Chi Minh.

I could consolidate everything into THB on Revolut, but it would take a few days and I’d prefer to avoid the fees and exchange rate losses. Any advice?

Question for anyone who’s applied for the Soft Power DTV through the LA consulate:

I transferred funds into my savings to meet the $16k requirement, but my final $2k deposit didn’t hit until June 2—so my May statement shows $14.8k, while June and July will both show over $16k.

Has anyone been approved even if one of the three required statements showed slightly under the threshold?

Wondering how strict they are about hitting the $16k mark *every* month.

Hello guys! Yesterday entering thru don mueang I was stopped by immigration around 1 hour. Currently I have student visa since 2023, but I saw some other guys in the room with DTV, just be careful as immigration is checking everything while getting inside of the country. This has never happened to me in my 2 years in Thailand.

When the embassy asks for further documents - is this one time request or can be multiple requests?

I was asked to provide single document which I immediately added... does this mean that other documents were ok, just needed the missing one, or that I still could be asked for futher documents?

I got the request within 24 hours of submitting the initial application.

So,,looks like border runs are rapidly becoming a lost art ? What about a quick flight somewhere close for a few days? Where would work ? Please. Thanks

🚫 Thai-Cambodia Border Closed in Chanthaburi

Both the Ban Laem and Ban Phakkat checkpoints in Chanthaburi province are now closed - this includes the walking route from Ban Laem to Daung Lem in Cambodia.

This shutdown is based on orders from the Thai Immigration Bureau due to legal issues and the growing concern over illegal border crossing services (especially those used for visa runs).

These points have long been a loophole for people trying to "reset" their stay in Thailand.

• What This Means:

No more border runs via Chanthaburi.

If you’re using the “walk in, walk out” method to extend your stay - it’s over for now.

This affects both Thai nationals and foreign tourists.

• Alternative?

At this moment, only a few checkpoints in Laos (like Nong Khai) remain open - but even they’ve gotten stricter lately. Be warned.

We strongly advise planning ahead. Don't rely on land border runs. Stay legal - explore other visa options instead.
